Our household usually gets some toys and takes them to the local fire station during Christmas. They distribute them to needy children. Our church use to have a similar event but not this year.
I'd like to see a list from the Freepers of good and bad charities that they know of. There are plenty of places to donate if one looks around, but some have high overhead and less get to those in need. I know of other organizations that have become politicized and not in a good way.
Also I'm interested in seeing a sort of update on anti-conservative anti-Christmas behavior from places like Target, Walmart, etc. A few years ago some of the stores tried removing the word Christmas from their stores, at the same time pushing a lot of muslim material. Some of them backpedaled after we hit them in the pocketbook, but I'm not sure where they stand this season.
Thanks for all the help FR. Merry Christmas
Christian Appalachian Project in Kentucky. One of the best.
Or as a friend of mine once suggested, find a local family that maybe you know or know of, and help them directly.

Samaritan’s Purse seems based.
These are great suggestions. Thanks.
I was kind of hoping to hear some of the bad ones too. I saw the Salvation Army at our local store and wondered about their status. A few years ago there was something sketchy about them. It may not be the case now.
Looks like Target is probably up to it’s usually virtue signaling from it’s behavior earlier this year.
We use to have a means of signing up at work to have a portion donated each paycheck that we could renew each year or not. It was a well know organization one whose name I forget. Your contributions went to several local charities and they let you decide the proportions yourself.
They don’t do it now, but we’ve gone thru several owners over the years.
Perhaps one of the local churches works through SGA (Slavic Gospel Assoc.) They are reliable.
