Cats have always been known for their mysterious and independent nature. They can be a source of unconditional love and comfort for their humans, but they also possess a streak of cunning and aloofness. In a recent incident, a homeowner found himself locked out of his house, with the keys safely inside. Little did he know, his feline companions held the power to either let him in or leave him stranded outside.

Elections for both local councils and parliament this year, so we can remix the blancmange and recreate some new clowns from the old moulds.
The Queen is sorely missed. Charlie isn’t very well at the moment, so this is slowing down the loony tunes a bit.
They are still selling QE 2 memorabilia in the tourist shops as well as the Charlie stuff. Rather surreal….I’m waiting for the Queen Vic stuff to surface next. Viva la merchandise.
The best code is: ….. ….. ….. , totally unbreakable is that. :)
Oh no, the rise of the Avian Oligarch!
In these parts, that would be Tom, the Northern Mockingbird.
It would be interesting to see what kind of population change will occur. After a few years, will species be distributed roughly the way they were before the epidemic, or will there be significant differences?
Inside measurements are 48” H X 76” W,
I’ll see what Lowe’s has. Anyway, your landlord should be required to replace the blind with one you can raise and lower. You shouldn’t be penalized because the previous tenant vandalized it.
The blind in the bedroom has been cut, so if for any reason it comes off the window sill, all the slats will fall to the floor.
I’ll worry about that when I’m ready to install an A/C unit in there. The ONLY thing I don’t like about the apartment is that both of the big windows face south. The one in the kitchen faces north, but there is lots of shade in the back. None to speak of in the front.
The good thing about the south-facing windows is that Chip can get lots of sun on cold winter days. I could even get him a little platform bed so he’d have his own spot.
The landlord should replace the other one, too. They owe you working fixtures!
Sally has a little hammock in a window for her cats.
I want one for Chip, but I’ll have to fight for it. Chuck isn’t well and is older, and he’s been gone most of the last two weeks. I think his F-i-L passed away, and he had to go to SLC to help with arrangements as well as be there for his wife. He really loved her dad, so I’m not surprised that he has stayed. Linda keeps asking about him, but I promised him I wouldn’t divulge his whereabouts or the reasons for it.
Anyway, it won’t be any easier getting new blinds than it has been getting a new back storm door (or getting the front one replaced) or the light over the kitchen sink replaced, or all that stuff that should have been done before I moved in. He just can’t do that stuff any more. And now, he has to take the coverings off the swamp coolers. So if I’m going to get anything done, I’ll have to see to it myself.
The doors are not that hard — just go to the Re-Store and get them, then have someone from the Ward hang them. The blinds? I don’t know if the Re-Store has anything like that. So Chip and I are being held hostage. I’m sure Chuck doesn’t see it that way, but that’s what it feels like.
How about you just admit that you’re wrong and asymmetric warfare means using unconventional means.
Sorry about that, I clicked reply to a different post and it grabbed this one.
Sometimes I hate mobile device.
Hey, Darks!
How are things going these days?
How’s yer mum doing? It seems like ages since you’ve been here.
Life continues, as it does.
I lurk still, as the typos prove.
Not much to say, actually.
No problem. I could totally have gotten those mixed up, if anyone had asked my opinion.
The contractor needs to get someone who can do stuff.
Mobile phones will sometimes misclick.
You put your input on a different link, and the touch screen is like “Yeah, no. I’m over here”
Usually when the stupid thing is chewing on some task elsewhere like “Still loading”.
I hate mobile device but my computer has been acting up.
I might have to rebuild it.
I don’t want to.
My phone isn’t good at finding a signal.
If I can find the email address for the owners, I might be able get them to find some temporary help for Chuck, or some part-time help, but I’m hesitant because they may see it as someone saying Chuck is totally incapable of doing his job. I would hate to think he was to be replaced with someone less experienced with senior needs.
As for buying things, I suspect they might be more reluctant to do so for any of us, depending on how close we are to the end of the fiscal year.
Still, there are things that need to be done. The doors are under $20 each (Habitat For Humanity Re-Store) so other things are equally cheap. The difficulty is in finding someone who is healthy and strong enough to get the jobs done.
Chuck had Covid and shortly after that, he had a heart attack and then he got Covid again during the almost two years I was gone. Meanwhile, my list of things that need to be done keeps growing.
I feel badly for Chuck, but more for all the tenants. I’m sure you’re not the only one who needs repairs.
No, but my list is probably the longest. And I thought I could get him to get after the tenants that had been waiting before I moved back in, saying their requests had been here longest, but none are getting done.
He was off with that horrible upper respiratory viral infection a while back, then his F-i-L fell, and then he was sent back home to home hospice, so Chuck left his wife and came home, but then I think the man died so Chuck was gone again all of this week.
I made a copy of my list, but it’s buried in my filing pile, and I’m thinking there are close to 20 items on the list. He could come one day and get four of them done in an hour. The bigger jobs would take longer, but touch blinds for my cat’s comfort wouldn’t be on any list. Unless I was buying. *sigh*
Chip is now under the bed, I think. He’s mad at me for locking the cupboards!
I feel badly for chuck, too, but I need the insulation of the storm doors, and I need the light over the kitchen sink, the oven swapped out with one that works properly, the flimsy plastic toilet seat exchanged with a wooden one before I fall off it, and new blinds in the bedroom and living room. If I could get the ones in the living room changed, I could get a hammock for Chip so he could have some sun.
Something will happen. I just don’t know when.
