Cats have always been known for their mysterious and independent nature. They can be a source of unconditional love and comfort for their humans, but they also possess a streak of cunning and aloofness. In a recent incident, a homeowner found himself locked out of his house, with the keys safely inside. Little did he know, his feline companions held the power to either let him in or leave him stranded outside.

I’ve had numerous Wordles like that... always glad to get in before the dreaded X/6 strikes!

We should all be so lucky to have nice weather hold on for as long a period as now to Easter! Best wishes that you do, after all, CA has to be worth something!

Here, hoping to see moar Sun than clouds up through Palm Sunday...

As an aside, I appreciate being a part of the Undead Thread community. Since I am not a prolific poster and often just appear once a day on FR, I can’t always understand or participate in all of the stories and situations...

But I do enjoy being a part of the community, it is my sole “social media” environment, and as such, it is more meaningful to me than I probably understand.

Thank You!

Good morning. Happy Twosday.

The weather’s been OK here. It’s back to chilly for a while, but it’s still March.

Yesterday Mrs. ArGee said her father had forgotten what to do after he turns on his computer. It’s still Windoze 8 so it comes up with a screen image and the time. He’s supposed to hit a key so he can enter his password. So Mrs. ArGee told him to hit a key. Then she told him his password and he typed it, but didn’t hit enter.

Since his declining mental state isn’t linear, he’ll probably remember all that today. I think he actually exhausts himself by insisting on riding his lawnmower and “doing stuff.”

I got a Wordle surprise today. If it hadn’t been so many of the words I thought of had already won I’d have needed a lot more tries.

Wordle 1,004 2/6*

What a scraggly little floof! I love it!

Good morning. I hope your night was pleasant with Jake minding his own business and sleeping elsewhere.

Chip used the litter box at least once during the night, and got lots of litter outside of it. He tracked it on his explorations into the bathroom, too.

He ate all his gooshy fud, (about a third of a small can,) quite a bit of dry food, and lots of water, so small victories. Maybe I’ll see him by Thursday. Or not.

Nothing is on the docket for today except to clean up after Chip, fold my dainties and put them away, and wait to see if Chuck comes back. I suspect his F-i-L passed away, and Chuck has gone back up to SLC to help with funeral arrangements and be supportive to his wife.

My doctor faxed a letter about the cat to him yesterday, so I’m anxious to get a copy.

We’re supposed to have 70° today and 75° by Thursday and Friday, and I’m glad to see the temps finally going up the barometer instead of down. Now I can think about putting awy my winter clothes and getting out my summer ones.

I don’t have a clear picture of the weather for Easter. That’s too far away. I’m good if I know what it will be a week out!

You’re most welcome to be here! In fact, you have contributed more than you know.

We used to have a fairly large chat group, when the Flying Castle was moving around the universe, but the author doesn’t post as often any more, and Undeaders began leaving us by ones and twos, and pretty soon, we were left with a small (but ELITE!) band of Ne’er-do-Wells who are loyal to the Thread. So welcome!

(IF you’re interested in the movements, check Nicknamedbob’s home page. The first few and last few posts [maybe 20+ in each direction] of each new move are the most informative, though I can’t recall when we began to build the castle. It was some posts after Fedora broke through the wall of the Smoky Back Room.)

Anyway, if you have time, the building of the castle and exploring the universe are great reading. Take it a bit at a time, as there is a lot there!

I used to love California weather, but my favorite place for it was San Diego. When we moved to the Bay Area, we were under a stationary high for the three years we lived there. We moved and the High broke up. ;o] True story!

They even went so far as to enforce water rationing, it was so bad!

Yay! It sounds like Chip is making progress. It must be confusing for him, having been a shelter cat for so long and a feral before that. He’ll adjust to the good life in due time. You’re a good kitty-mom. ❤️

Thanks!

It breaks my heart that he was in the shelter for so long. The feral part doesn't bother me too much, but to think no one wanted him because he was "shy" was just too much for me to think about.

The shelter help kept bombarding me with lots of senior cats in every room in the house, but all I could think of was "Hugo." So when push came to shove, that's what I told them -- that I wanted to see him again.

It was only after I had chosen him and they were drawing up his medical records that they informed me he was FIV positive, (from a deep bite wound when he was feral, no doubt, or one of his parents could have been) but my heart had already made the choice. So Hugo became Chip on the way home.

And the rest is bringing him out of his shell.

I’m glad Chip is eating and going. Improvements a little bit at a time!

Kathleen’s team was 13th. Two of our four teams were in the top 7, and the third was 8th. More importantly, she made a new friend, a girl from another team.

Thanks!

Chip didn’t wait for it to get dark today before he came out to eat. He’s eaten almost all of his gooshy fud and had some water, so I imagine he’s gone back to sleep for a while.

At least I know he’s not as shy as he was when I first brought him home!

Good for all the kids who participated! And good for Kathleen and her new friend. Friends are so important when one is a teen. My friend in grade school is still my friend today, and there is no way to put a value on a good friendship. Good luck to both girls on this one!

The temperature made it up to 70° so maybe tomorrow I can open the back door a crack and get a cross-breeze through here.

Linda is going to follow me down to Casey’s tomorrow for the bumper swap, and with luck, it will be on by the time I get done at the pain clinic. I didn’t even have to ask her, either. She just volunteered! (I can hardly wait!)

Have a good evening and night, and I’ll see you tomorrow!

Chip is making good progress at feeling comfortable in your apartment. Who knows how long it’s been since he felt comfortable? The quiet - except for a little TV and some inspirational talks - must be wonderful.

Kathleen is friends with the German boys from her team, and their older sister (17) who is an alternate on the Frank and the Girls team, but it was really nice that she met someone new that she really liked. Nerd girls ...

It’s supposed to be 70s tomorrow. Kathleen has a riding lesson in the afternoon, and Frank, James, and I have a WAC staff Zoom meeting in the evening.

Yes, I think Chip is doing great, considering the change. I told FD today that I think he’s been sleeping so much because he was so stressed. It can’t have been easy, being feral for over two years with an infected mouth.

Spending three years living with the kind and amount of stress that was present in the shelter would wear me out, so I’m not surprised that he’s not coming out to play, yet.

I could feel the stress each time we entered a new room. They wanted me to see another room of seniors (the fourth, I think) but I had had enough sensory overload.

I think the quiet is what he has needed for a very long time, and his little body just sort of shut down and slept because it needed to.

I really do want to meet him and give him a good brushing and see what his motor sounds like. ;o]
