Cats have always been known for their mysterious and independent nature. They can be a source of unconditional love and comfort for their humans, but they also possess a streak of cunning and aloofness. In a recent incident, a homeowner found himself locked out of his house, with the keys safely inside. Little did he know, his feline companions held the power to either let him in or leave him stranded outside.

Sounds acceptable. I made about 100 cookies. DP has a cookie exchange at the office tomorrow. He told us about it a while ago, but we all forgot until earlier today.

That’s one thing I miss about going in to work. I had this cow-orker who brought the most amazing cookies. Peanut butter with a big Hershey’s kiss in the center. Yum!

I could have made those, but we made M&M cookies.

I like going with Trisha as she’s clever and funny and we have a lot in common. She really knows the back roads, much, MUCH better than I do! But then, she’s lived in this county most of her life, so it would be like me, up in Utah County. Well — like it used to be in Utah County. The place has grown so much, now.

I want to start baking, but it will be a while. I gave away a lot of stuff when I moved because it was on the verge of going past its pull-by date, and it was easier on my conscience than tossing it. Either way I went, I knew I would have to replace it all. Slowly.

But I want to make some Christmas Spice Cake, so I’ll need to get the ingredients soon.

There were about 15 left after DP packed up what he needed. I expected they’ll be all gone when I get home from the Stewardship meeting.

I’m sure you’re right about that! I mean, why would the Mom want a cookie she baked?

I forgot what those days were like. Instead of scrambling to make sure I have enough left so I could have a couple, I’m now scrambling to find enough people to eat them so I don’t pack on 20# a sitting!

So I limit my baking, except for the bread. That keeps quite well, and like it toasted, with lots of butter and jam. :o]) I make a loaf about every two weeks. I finally got the oven temperature adjusted, but I’m also waiting for Chuck to get approval for the expert to come out and adjust the thermostat or replace it. I don’t like using the bread machine for baking the bread, though its essential for kneading it.

Awww...Piglet with a Floof!! ¡Perfecto! (Such a sweet pic!)

Good morning. Did Jake allow you to sleep?

I was tired but forgot to reset my mattress pad, so it shut off and woke me up way before the alarm was supposed to ring. Cold. The cold always wakes me up.

So I just got up and have turned on the heater in the bathroom so it will be toasty when I take a shower. I think that heater is dying on the vine. I got it in Cabot, so this is the third year of use. Usually, they’re only good for two years.

Chuck has a heater he was going to give me, but he wasn’t feeling well when I saw him Monday, so I didn’t get the heater. Maybe today.

I miss my landline like crazy! It worked when the power went out. I felt it was more secure than cellular (which it was).

Then the evil AT&T crews visited our subdivision and “gifted” everyone with optical cable. We cancelled the landline.

Notice how improved technology is a detriment to our lives when it comes to privacy. It’s ALMOST like it was planned to do exactly that. Hmmm ..

Good morning. Jake was not around last night. I think he was with James. It’s cold here, too. Almost like it’s December!

I haven’t had a landline in 25 years. I think I gave it up when I realized I could actually afford a prepaid cell phone. With a cell phone, I didn’t have to wait to get home before I found out if someone wanted me for something.

But then there was always the anticipation of who was it? We don’t have that, now. Maybe we should go back to landlines, just for nostalgia?

But then, how would I take pictures? Or send text messages, which are so convenient?

Last year I became addicted to espresso toffee cookies at a family reunion last year. My brother’s granddaughter is a pastry chef (only 23 years old and was mentioned in a recent Bon Appetit issue), and that was her contribution to the potluck. Publix sells something similar, but definitely not as good.

It’s 38° out, but it’s 72° in here. I don’t know what the temperature is in the bathroom, but it’s got to be much warmer than it is in here!

I was almost too warm, yesterday. When we went to Denny’s we were led to a booth by a window, and I won’t be doing that again. Booths are too hard for me to get out of and the window, though shaded, was very warm. It was uncomfortable, but I tried not to complain.

The food was pretty good as was the conversation, so that helped!

I love that pic. We had an all-black cat, Homer, who had his pink elephant that he would carry around in his mouth while making a funny noise in his throat.

Our Shannon, who died earlier this year, would carry small toys around in her mouth, and then drop them on the floor and shriek at them. We got used to it.

Good morning. Happy Humph Day!

Any day is a good day with Piglet.

We haz snow. Just a light dusting on the ground and a light shower of big flakes falling. It’s hard to believe it was 40 fs just 2 nights ago.

B-I-L sent a text on Sunday that they’d lost their dog to bloat. She was from the same breeder as our Princess so we’d been following how she’d been growing. The news has made Mrs. ArGee very cranky, although our Princess is getting a lot of good attention.

And there’s this. I guess I’m becoming consistent.

You can have both cell and landline. Landline was beyond handy when you needed to contact the cellular tech support people because you couldn’t use your cell.

Yes, they can. I suppose they find us funny, too, which is why they let us live with them.
