Potentially armed with nuclear missiles. More likely conventional cruise missiles. And, even more likely doing their woke DEI sessions.

We’ve got outposts in Iraq and Syria that the baddies might want to overrun. We’re positioning assets just in case.

Things sure have changed since I was in the military. I always thought the location of US Nuclear Submarines was classified SECRET. Correct me if you are a Submariner out there.

Today’s submarines only shoot rainbow colored confetti.

I hope that when Trump becomes President on 1/20/25, he renamed the Ohio class sub nearest to Iran as the “USS FAFO.” That’ll send as much of a message to ALL of our enemies as to those rag-headed camel jockeys in Iran.

I hope the Ohio doesn’t have a dingbat or a queer as her CO, or any of those in her crew, either.

The whole trick with submarines is the enemy doesn't know where you are. And the brass just told them.
It's not even high tech to take out a submarine if you know where it is.

SSGNs...former Boomers that were converted to carry guided missiles instead of ballistic missiles.
Can neither confirm nor deny that they can carry nuclear tipped cruise missiles.
The latest sighting in that theater happened because we wanted it to. Submarine patrol areas are highly classified otherwise.

The Ohio-class submarine has nuclear weapons. I understand we have two that have been retrofitted with conventional crus missiles (a lot of them). I'm sure this is one of them. The boomers are strategic assets and you don't get them any where near a conflict area.

Sure, just park it it shallow water. Might as well surface and paint a large target on the deck.

The Ohio, Michigan, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Alaska, Nevada, Pennslyvannia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maryland, Nebraska, Wyoming, Rhoade Island, Maine, and Louisiana are our boomer subs in service. The Ohio is the oldest of the subs, over 40 years old. The LA is the youngest at 26 years old. The fleet is getting old. But they are upgraded all the time. Here is the site on Wikipedia if you are interested:

The first four Ohio-class nuclear submarines ceased being able to fire ballistic missiles years ago when they were converted to SSGN. They have tomahawk cruise missiles and various platforms for moving personnel to conflict areas. The tomahawks are probably non-nuclear. As a side note, this sub, USS Florida was one of those I was involved in building 40 years ago.

It is a SSGN, not a SSBN (though it was converted from a SSBN).
