People were wondering how many people were tuned into the Fox Business RNC debate, the second GOP primary debate without Donald Trump. The answers are in per an NBC review of Nielsen ratings.
Approximately 9.3 million people tuned in to watch the debate on Fox, Fox Business and Univision. That’s a drop of 27% from the first debate which had 12.8 million viewers.
[…] Even though it was broadcast on Fox Business Network, Fox News Channel and Univision, it still attracted roughly 3.4 million fewer viewers than the first GOP debate just one month ago, which was hosted by the Fox News Channel. That’s a decline of 27%. By contrast, the decline between the first and second debates of the 2016 cycle — both of which featured Trump — was just 4%. (link)

I turned it off. I could have watched it if the moderators would have done their job and shut off Scott and whoever else it was talking over everyone else.

After weeks of promoting the debate, Fox News has gone dark on post debate coverage. Fox/Ryan know it was a disaster of major proportions. Biggest loser: RNC Biggest winner: Donald Trump. Dana Perino’s brand was severely damaged.

I think Nielsen Ratings comes mostly from internal backdoor reporting of viewing habits and tracking spying software.
In other words, they see where every single cable box is set to and if set is on. They can track every single online stream in play. They can track every smart TV if the buyers haven’t disabled that.
Many smart people will avoid being tracked.
If you watch off the air with a TV antenna, they know nothing. If your off-the-air TV is a smart TV and connected to the web, they will track that.
I stopped watching after about 1/2 hour. And then did some checking on Twitter. No control and random hollering.
Trump or DeSantis is going to be the R nominee. The rest is just sideshow carnival.
They are too busy riling up their male significant others with the current Tik Tok challenge. It is actually pretty funny to see how males get downright indignant when the female says Taylor Swift put Travis Kelce on the map. Inevitably the outraged man says Kelce is one of the greatest Tight ends ever (NFL reference)

The debate, held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., was Fox Business Network’s highest-rated telecast since 2016, with ratings that outpaced 60% of debates in the 2016 and 2020 cycle.
This is good thinking. The things is Nielsen finds ways of ensuring its TV watching statistics are accurate for demographic and advertising value tracking.
The fact that Nielsen is used as the Gold Standard by the media themselves shows that it’s likely the most accurate measure of TV activity across all kinds of access technology.
I can safely say that I have been watching Presidential Primary and General debates since I was 16. I haven’t missed but a couple.
I turned this one off.
The moderators have lost control. The candidates are blithering.
There was very little policy discussion. And what little there was had the depth of a sheet of plastic wrap.
I am sitting this one out. I live in MA, so no vote for a conservative won’t count for anything. A pox on all of their houses.
Where do you get that information from? Because I used to build CATV/Broadband systems…and thats not how it worked recently.
I had to laugh when the "who won the debate" question was asked on a show I was watching. The answer: Donald Trump. I remember the same question, with the same answer from the last debate.
He has "won" 2 Republican Primary debates without even showing up!
No, Trump is going to be the nominee. DeSantis is gone. His approval numbers have cratered from where they were when he first announced. The actual DeSantis is quite disappointing.
It's the standard cliche-line of several sports pundits.
Just two years ago it was "Rob Gronkowski is one of the greatest Tight ends ever."
Everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame.. and then.. NEXT!
