Apparently the internet rumor was they had “sources” that advised them to evacuate before the news got out.
Since things still more or less normal, most of them probably still hanging around, doing what they do- not in New Zealand yet.

It was the brother of a friend who worked in finance. This was about 8 years ago. He said the financial market will collapse. As far as I know, he is still in NZ.
