Police Arrest Country Artist Zach Bryan

Police arrested country star Zach Bryan in Oklahoma on Thursday.

Bryan was arrested in Vinita, Oklahoma, at 6:42 p.m., the Craig County inmate search shows. The country singer was booked with an obstruction of investigation charge.

Bryan released a statement.

“Today I had an incident with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Emotions got the best of me and I was out of line in the things I said,” Bryan wrote. “I support law enforcement as much as anyone can, I was just frustrated in the moment, it was unlike me and I apologize.”

Bryan released his second studio album Aug. 25 2023, self-titled, “Zach Bryan.” His collaboration on the album with Kacey Musgraves, “I Remember Everything,” is currently sitting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

“They brought me to jail, and there is a mug shot of me floating around,” Bryan continued in his statement. “Prayers we can all move on from this and prayers people know I’m just trying the best I can. I love you guys and I am truly sorry to the officers.”

“I’ve got seven Red Bulls in me. And I just wanted to be completely transparent with everyone who listens to my music about what happened with me yesterday,” Bryan said in a video posted after his initial statement. “I have to deal with the legalities of it. I did go to jail … I was an idiot today. And my decisions did not reflect who I was as a person. I should have been smarter about it.”

Bryan then elaborates, describing the alleged encounter with an officer, who he says demanded his address during a traffic stop. During Bryan’s initial refusal to provide his address, the country star says he was handcuffed at one point. The officer eventually let him go, according to Brian’s recollection.

Later, Bryan says police stopped his security guard who was driving in a different vehicle following him to Boston. The music artist says, “like a dumbass,” he eventually got impatient and “too lippy” with the officer, who then threatened to arrest him.

“I felt like a child. It was ridiculous. It was immature. And I just pray everyone knows I don’t think I’m above the law. I was just being disrespectful and I shouldn’t have been. And it was my mistake,” Bryan added.

Bryan said he was being rude to the officer while he was in handcuffs and eventually shook hands with the officer after being released from the jail cell.

Hate to break it to you Bryan, but it was like you, otherwise you wouldn’t have reacted that way. Our true core characters are often revealed when under stress- But now that you know, you can change if you want, and you can get a few songs out of it too.

It would be interesting to know if he was driving or a passenger. Also wonder if Oklahoma has a law regarding passengers have to provide information. It sounds like his 1st and 4th amendment rights were violated.

One of my kids listens to a lot of independent country.

He’s a trucker. About a year ago, his pickup was parked at a small truck stop while he was out on the road for the week. A drunk driver hit the only car in the parking lot, my son’s pickup and destroyed it.

At the time, he lived about 700 miles from us. We had an extra car so I told him to come get it. A one way plane ticket was $500 so he took a Greyhound for $75.

After his little adventure was over, I told him that his life was a country song so sad that he didn’t even have a tailgate to drink beer on.

His previous truck got destroyed when he drove over a patch of ice that turned out to be a sinkhole. The one he bought after the drunk driver was just an old beater that caught fire on the freeway three weeks after he bought it.

The video of the fire cooking off some ammo he didn’t manage to get out of the truck was pretty cool.

That happened to a car I once owned in the Marines. I let a buddy borrow it and he wrecked it, brought it back to me and paid the deductible. The day I got it back from the shop, freshly painted and all new looking, I went to a restaurant in town to celebrate and when I came out someone had broadsided it and took off................

Doesn’t that stink.

In my son’s case, the security camera at the truck stop recorded the crash. It was pretty cool since the driver was coming off the freeway at a high speed, missed the turn and did a good Dukes of Hazzard impression. Flew about 50 feet, bounced twice and BAM.

He tried to drive away but his trail of fluids and assorted car parts was easy for the police to follow.

A few years ago, I was driving down to the Keys with my dad. I got stopped somewhere on the turnpike because I held up my ezpass instead of having it permanently mounted. I live in GA. Having it mounted on my truck seemed silly.

Anyway, the FHP was in a pissy mood just trying to find something to get me about. After 20 minutes of being nice, I had it.

I finally was pissy back and said something like “what are we doing here? Write your damn ticket already and let’s go.”

He chastised me and stomped away. Made me wait 10 more minutes and came back to tell me I could go.

My dad was an MP in his youth and was pushed and incredulous that I snapped. At some point, it gets ridiculous and we are human.

We used to live 320 miles from my wife’s parents and used to go there for holidays, would take about 5-6 hours straight driving.

One time, I had gotten within 3 miles of their house when I was stopped by the FHP for a speeding ticket.

It was night, and I had to get out of our car and go to the Trooper’s car while my wife and toddler daughter waited in our car.

I just opened the door and plopped down in the seat without looking and I sat right down on his Stetson hat! Smashed it flat as a pancake!

The ticket cost me $50, but that hat cost him waaaaay more than that!...............................

“You never even called me by my name” David Allen Coe (The perfect country and western song)

Well, it was all
That I could do to keep from crying’
Sometimes it seemed so useless to remain
But you don’t have to call me darlin’, darlin’
You never even called me by my name

You don’t have to call me Waylon Jennings
And you don’t have to call me Charlie Pride
And you don’t have to call me Merle Haggard anymore
Even though you’re on my fighting’ side

And I’ll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing’ in the rain
But you don’t have to call me darlin’, darlin’
You never even called me by my name

Well, I’ve heard my name
A few times in your phone book (hello, hello)
And I’ve seen it on signs where I’ve played
But the only time I know
I’ll hear “David Allan Coe”
Is when Jesus has his final judgment day

So I’ll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing’ in the rain
But you don’t have to call me darlin’, darlin’
You never even called me by my name

Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song
And he told me it was the perfect country & western song
I wrote him back a letter and I told him it was not the perfect country & western song
Because he hadn’t said anything at all about mama
Or trains, or trucks, or prison, or getting’ drunk
Well, he sat down and wrote another verse to the song and he sent it to me
And after reading it I realized that my friend had written the perfect country & western song
And I felt obliged to include it on this album
The last verse goes like this here

Well, I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got run over by a damned old train

And I’ll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing’ in the rain, no
But you don’t have to call me darlin’, darlin’
You never even called me
Well, I wonder why you don’t call me
Why don’t you ever call me by my name

Kacey Musgraves is as liberal as it gets

Injected into the Genre by music executives to add diversity.
like many others in today’s so-called “country music”

Years ago when I was in HS (1979 or so), I was with a buddy riding around in his convertible and he ran a red light & t-boned a Corvette. Corvette driver gets out & says something to the effect of him having insurance - which he did. Said he literally got his Vette back from the body shop from another accident.

My friend called his dad who was a deputy police chief in Omaha, so he crossed the river into Iowa while we were still talking to the Council Bluffs police officer & he punched his son in front of the cop & Vette owner. Cop didn’t say a word.

Since this thread of about a year ago, I've become a huge Zach Bryan fan.

Some of the most authentic country/Americana music you will ever hear these days.
