Illegal, Inhumane Imprisonment [semi-satire]
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 20 August 2023 | John Semmens

Posted on 08/19/2023 1:01:46 AM PDT by John Semmens

Ryan Samsel was one of the persons arrested for rioting in the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. He has been accused of serious crimes--including insurrection and assault--but has yet to be tried, much less convicted, for any of them. Two-and-a-half years later he is still behind bars.

Judging from pictures of him in his cell, the conditions are appalling. The dimensions of his cell are nine feet long, three feet wide, and eight feet tall. All the surfaces are concrete. There are no windows. There is no bed--only a two-by-six foot mat on the floor. There are no blankets. His only clothing is a pair of boxer's underwear. There is no toilet--only a bucket is provided for bodily waste excretion. He alleges that he has been roughly treated and occasionally beaten by the prison guards.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga) called the treatment of Samsel and others "illegal and inhumane. According to the Sixth Amendment to the US Constitution, those accused are entitled to a speedy and public trial. Some of them have had neither. It's long past the time they should've had their day in court. In the meantime, the living conditions for these defendants are among the worst I've ever seen."

In response to Greene's concerns, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md) observed that, "while the living conditions of persons held in penal facilities is of concern we shouldn't minimize the threat people like Samsel pose to the survival of our democracy. Inasmuch as the penalty for insurrection could be death, an indefinite term of pretrial detention might be viewed as a merciful postponement of that day of reckoning. Likewise, harsh prison conditions strike me as a minor inconvenience compared to the execution these enemies of our democracy deserve."

US District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who has overseen a number of cases against Jan. 6 rioters and is currently assigned to preside over the upcoming trial of former President Donald Trump for his role in the January 6, 2021 events at the US Capitol was unmoved by the treatment of Samsel, calling it "a good fit for the crimes he has committed. The real tragedy is that the man who instigated those crimes is still a free man when he should've been in an adjoining cell since that fateful date."

Not satire:

https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/pr/pennsylvania-man-indicted-assault-law-enforcement-during-jan-6-capitol-breach

“The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Department of Justice National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section.”

Is this the same counter terrorism division that no longer uses the word “jihadist” avoids the label of “Islamic terror” and talks about “lone wolf, home grown and self radicalized?”

We have a DOJ that can’t see an Islamic terrorist as he’s screaming Allah Akbar and cutting off a head, but they throw the book at some young man that pushed over a barricade, and didn’t like it when getting handcuffed. Wow, what a masterpiece of criminal justice.

Our DOJ if not reformed should be refunded.

“The Sixth Amendment guarantees the rights of criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial without unnecessary delay,”

So where is the Repukigans in Congre$$ coming to their rescue? Oh, we’re to bu$y with the important Congre$$ional Bu$$ine$$.

THE DEEP STATE IN FULL PANIC MODE OVER WHAT MIKE LINDELL REVEALED AT THE ELECTION CRIME SUMMIT

Evil's Problem - Reaction - Solution

Problem - We can't track everybody.
Solution - Create an environment in which people
willingly accept a means of tracking.
(say a bluetooth signal...inside the body)
Reaction - Baaaaaaa

Flip side
Problem - Corrupt Voting
Solution - Stop corruption
Result - clean elections

Alternate Reality
Evil jubilee. We've use their
own brilliance against them.
No problems now. We can use
the intentions of good...
and track everybody.

My dream is if Trump is elected, that he puts someone like Flynn in charge of the DOJ.

Someone smart and on a vendetta.

The DOJ needs to get cleaned up.

You don’t need to be a SME in this case. The systemic problem the DOJ faces is one of politics that has infested the decision making. The DOJ needs a hatchet man, someone that comes in with the goal to weed wack that place.

Our real threat is main land China/PRC today.

But we ignore that threat because we manufacture there and they have ha huge influence on US politics through their US based subsidiaries that hire lobbying firms, donate to campaigns, parties... The PRC has influence on our media where they have some ownership but have been engaging for years, plus they leverage their market access which has grown to be one of the biggest in the world.

The PRC is a huge threat, but we see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil regards them.

The Russians are history. They are finished. They can barely hold onto their own frontier nor enforce their buffer zone concept which they want (i.e. Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Republic of Georgia, Ukraine). The Warsaw Pact is gone. The Soviet Union is gone.

Russia alone in 55% of our land forces, 47% of our air, 43% of our naval forces, 40% of the amount of men reaching military age, 44% our population, 20% our GDP, less industry, less high tech, less allies, weak allies, a largely conscripted military (loss of skills because they don’t stay long and morale), and they don’t have Central and South America which we reach back to when we need bodies (even now many of the mercenaries in Ukraine are from places like Columbia and Brazil etc.).

Point being, direct your attention to the PRC. They soon are putting their fourth (4th) carrier to the sea (Russia has one), they are spending far more, have more troops in uniform.... They are the threat, they know it, we know it, it’s just taboo to say it and you literally have the US politician trying to downplay the problem there.

https://news.usni.org/2021/11/07/china-builds-missile-targets-shaped-like-u-s-aircraft-carrier-destroyers-in-remote-desert

China can crush folks protesting for democracy by running tanks over them, and that same year we’ll give them most most favored trade status (Bush H.). They can have questionable organ harvesting practices, forced abortions, oppress religion, occupy Tibet, blockade Taiwan, make dissidents disappear, are ruled by a single party communist regime, mass censor, execute more people than anyone else...

The same forces which wanted this war in Ukraine (US and EU oligarchs and big corporations), don’t want to agitate or see a problem with China because that’s where we build things, where we sell a lot, and they have some influence on our political class and media. But that does not change the fact that they are the big boy on the playground that’s eyeing us, not Russia. Russia is a has been.

Every nation has young men willing to fight and die.

It’s not waving a flag or young men enlisting that made us powerful.

What set us apart from everyone else on the planet was our industrial capacity, high tech, resources and fact that we had all three of them in mass. NO ONE can out build us when it comes to making war machines.

And that is why the PRC is a threat. By all measures, they are catching up and passing us:

(112 million people in China - 12.2 million USA / they have 10 TIMES the number of people in factories manufacturing things). https://converged.propelsoftware.com/blogs/american-manufacturing-statistics#:~:text=Manufacturing%20Workforce%20Statistics,U.S.%20manufacturing%20industry%20in%202021.

One of the worlds largest Merchant Marines:

Ship building (#2): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_ship_exports

Electrical power production (#1- almost exactly twice ours):https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_electricity_production

The point is that what really makes us the military powerhouse we are is raw economic capabilities. Pick a war with us, and we’re going to clobber you, beat you into the ground with material. Look at WWII as the perfect example: A-bomb, Sherman tank, carriers, liberty ships, lend lease for the UK, Russia and China, P-51, B17/24/29... We throw stuff at our enemy, more stuff they can produce, or shoot up and eventually we overwhelm them. Another example, Ukraine where as part of our first shipments we sent them 10,000 Javelin missile systems severely crippling their mechanized and armored advance.

As PRC grows and becomes a peer economically, our only true advantage goes lost.
