A Native American group is threatening to go on the warpath if the NFL’s Washington football team doesn’t readopt its iconic “Redskins” name and punt the “Commanders” moniker it assumed in 2020 in response to coercion from the cancel-culture crowd.
On Monday, the Native American Guardian’s Association (NAGA) sent a letter to the new leadership of the team, condemning the “cancel culture” that pressured the previous owner to drop “Redskins.”
The group has also posted a petition on Change.org, calling for restoration of “Redskins.” By Thursday, more people (75,000) had signed the petition than can be seated in the team’s home stadium of FedEx Field (63,000).
While the letter from NAGA Founder and President Eunice Davidson requests a pow-wow with the team’s chiefs, the NFL organization has repeated ignored requests for a meeting.
This time, however, the NAGA president warns that his group might launch a boycott that could cost the team a heap of wampum, if its requests are shunned. …

Nothing says I’m a man in America more than wearing a $150 jersey with some 22 year old black man’s name on your back.

Other than beer swilling, your decription does not fit in my case. I like to watch football games, college or NFL. Can do that while rejecting their “wokeisms.”
Does NAGA have a substantial base that watches the NFL?

The sports team names that invoked reminders of native Americans arose from respect for native American warriors as brave and fierce. None were an attempt to slight or disparage native Americans. Also, if some called them “Indians” it was out of ignorance and not disrespect (arising from European thinking they had found their way to India when they had only just reached the Americas).
Add a sissy white liberal college administration to the mix and the real Sioux never had a chance to be heard.
I like their spirit, but I don’t think there are enough Indian football fans available to make much dollar difference. Might as well be Quakers for the Tomohawk Chop!

Redskin owners need to build a stadium out near Dulles airport or some such place. Kentland, which is where that fedex stadium is now, is the worst ghetto in the DC area; I wouldn’t leave a vehicle parked there to watch a football game...
The worst decision former owner Dan Snyder did was to cave to the Woke idiots by changing from the Redskins name. He should have held firm and weathered the lil Wokesters temper tantrum as it wouldn’t have lasted the duration. Instead who’s life was made better from the name change? Never cave in to the Woke imbeciles who virtue signal with empty smoke rings.
Their website apparently dates back to August 2020, so they’re quite recent.
