LITHUANIA — A Ukrainian attendee at this year's NATO Summit found himself feeling embarrassed upon realizing the get-together was not, in fact, a costume party as he had thought.
"Zoinks! This is humiliating!" said the man, who was wearing a brand-new army-man costume complete with realistic army shoes. "I'm sticking out like a sore thumb here! Why am I the only one not wearing a fancy suit? Didn't the invite say to wear the coolest costumes we can come up with?"
"UGH! So awkward!"
The man then milled about uncomfortably as most of the attendees smiled politely and tried to ignore him.
Anonymous sources have suggested the mix-up was actually an elaborate prank pulled off by French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. "We have no idea what you're talking about," said Macron when confronted by reporters regarding the allegations before snickering uncontrollably.
At publishing time, the humiliated Ukrainian had become the guest of honor once again after agreeing to launder a few hundred billion dollars for the suit-wearing people.

Not really funny. The western Europeam elites are not burdened with populations being bombed every day, troops dying on miltary front lines every day and their lands under existential threat constantly, so to them “all is well” and they can pretend no major war is going on on their front door. Zelensky does not have that luxury. To me - at this point in Europe’s history - those in suits and ties are the ones in costumes. They are the ones out of place with reality.

While it is in America’s interest to have Russia weakened through a shooting war with another country, at some point Zelensky needs to find an off-ramp. And let’s be honest here: Zelensky has personally been made unbelievably wealthy as a result of this conflict.

I don’t think that is necessarily true.
I would not say Japan is “weakened”.
I would say Japan found a good lesson after losing all its empire after WWII. It found it did not need that empire, it did not need to bully its neighbpors, it did not need to be a military beligerent. Without all that it could still be a wealthy and successful nation.
Putin did not see Russia taking that lesson and adopting it after the breakup of the Soviet Union, He saw that breakup as a “tragedy for Russia”, which means he still holds in his heart the dream of a ressurected Russian empire.
If Russia in the post Soviet Union era had adopted Japan as an example, Russia would be at war with no one, and not even potentially at war with “NATO”, and not even running proxy wars in places like Urkaine and Georgia, yet it would be very rich and successful, like Japan.
Putin failed to dream a different dream for Russia.
As much fun as it’s been to make fun of him. look at those disgusting entitled people around him. They lead him down the primrose path, and now turn their backs on him.
It’s a perfect metaphor for how they see the American people as well. Like hun or hate him, that guy has a serious burden. And look at those laughing asses yucking it up around him.
For them NATO has been a full employment scheme for tens of thousands of people like them. They lead him to a place where his country is wrecked, and if he plays it wrong, he could lose his life. And they cut hun adrift.
