CHICAGO — A mass shooting left five people injured, four critically, near Lincoln Park Zoo overnight, according to initial information from the scene.
The shooting occurred in the 1900 block of North Stockton occurred around 4:40 a.m.
“A group of people were gathered outside … when a verbal altercation ensued,” Chicago police said in a media statement. “Unknown offender(s) then opened fired [sic], striking five victims. No one is in custody and Area Three Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
Police officers said found a 23-year-old man at the scene with gunshot wounds throughout his body. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.
A baseball hat, plastic cups, and a liquor bottle dotted a jogging path as Chicago cops draped yellow tape around the area.
Shortly after officers arrived, a minivan that sped from the shooting pulled up to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Streeterville. Three men and a 17-year-old girl riding in the vehicle were taken in for treatment. The men, ages 23, 31, and 44, were all in critical condition with gunshot wounds to their legs and torsos.
The girl was in good condition with a gunshot wound to the buttocks.
The minivan’s driver drove away from the hospital after dropping the victims off. Police found the vehicle abandoned near State and Huron around 5:35 a.m. They were looking for the driver. A CPD surveillance camera operator described her as White and wearing a black hoodie with blood-covered khaki shorts.
I’m seeing the capitalized “White” more and more lately. Maybe some urinalists are trying to be “inclusive.” LOL

Animals are better than alleged people in Chicago. I’d be really upset if someone shot a lion, tiger, or bear.

The ZOO is small and free. Basically city park with some animals there.
I used to like it there.
Hmmm, alcohol, a possibly stolen van and a 4:40 AM gathering, complete with a spray of bullets and a trip to the emergency room. Those OJT meetings sure can get interesting.

I frequented the area back in the ‘70s, when I was a student at DePaul U.
It was nice, upscale.

When my parents attended DePaul in the early-mid 60s, the campus and area around the Fullerton “L” station was safe, but go more than a couple of blocks off of campus in any direction and it was unsafe. Part of why there are so many beautiful old buildings still standing in the area (such as along Armitage Avenue to the south)...in the “urban renewal” era, developers and their bulldozers weren’t going within a country mile of Lincoln Park.

Pay attention to the language now being used by the media.
Liberal college professor says that a mass shooting is any time more than 2 people are shot.
Democrats say that there are mass shootings all the time. That statement is easily debunked because almost all of them are gang drive by’s and stuff like this and the media would say something along the lines of ….. 5 people were shot in the early morning hours near the Lincoln Park Zoo
Now, they’re going to use the term “mass shooting” every chance they get to ingrain that in people’s minds. Then…..more gun control.
