The Deep State was never more powerful than when Trump was POTUS. What’s past is prologue as the saying goes.
I can remember “back in the day” when the priorities for the FBI were investigating and arresting:
Bank robbers
Kidnappers who crossed state lines
Foreign spies
Americans suspected of espionage.
I guess their priorities have changed.
It’s called SES or Senior Executive Service bonuses. The entire government does this and no surprise that the partisan 7th floor of the FBI would sprinkle these to their minions, but the SES’s (highest paid employees) would get the bonuses regardless of what “reason” they cite.
As much as I detest the politicization of the DOJ, I think Gaetz is spinning this to make a specific attack (valid one at least) but taxpayers should understand that the federal bonus system has become an annual part of the compensation package for senior government executives. It is not really incentive based no matter what the brochure says.
They have always been powerful but they came out in the open with no fear under Trump.
As “wise to the world” as Trump is, I think even he was taken aback by all of it. I know I was.
If the SES in the FIB had refused to go after Trump or conservatives and had voiced that it was wrong....do you think that they would have gotten the bonuses?
It’s well pass time to consider any contact with the federal government as “hostile” and be very careful with your words. Like you would be if you if you were under arrest.
The government is no longer your friend.
