RADIOACTIVE PANIC: Russians Missiles Hit Ukrainian Ammunition Depot in Khmelnytsky Causing Massive Explosion – Cache of British Depleted Uranium Tank Shells Destroyed – Gamma Radiation Spikes in the Region’s Atmosphere

On Saturday, during a massive air and missile raid on Ukraine, Russian forces hit a ammunition depot in Khmelnytsky, in the western part of the country, causing gigantic explosions in the site.

Intel Slava reported:

“It is worth noting that panic reports are spreading in Ukrainian social networks that during the detonation of an ammunition depot in Khmelnytsky, a large batch of British tank ammunition with depleted uranium, which was recently brought to Ukraine along with Storm Shadow missiles, was also destroyed. As a result of a huge explosion, particles of depleted uranium could be dispersed on the territory of the Khmelnytsky region, which, taking into account the experience of Yugoslavia and Iraq, could lead to an outbreak of cancer in the medium term.”

It didn’t take long for the results of the impact to be measurable scientifically.

Media hysteria. Depleted uranium is just that - depleted.

Bullshitte.

The DEPLETED Uranium inside anti-tank shells is less radioactive than most common rocks.

Blowing even several thousand anti-tank shells (which do not even have a high-explosive warhead, merely a propellant charge) is NOT going to create ANY gamma ray radiation background change.

Non-radioactive. Uranium in the ground is slightly radioactive.

It still produces radiation but at a much lower level. Mostly Alpha and Beta, but some Gamma. The real problem is if it is aerosolized by penetrating armor, the dust can be inhaled.

We were told those shells were not dangerous as far as radioactivity goes.

Someone has been lying.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depleted_uranium

Depleted uranium (DU; also referred to in the past as Q-metal, depletalloy or D-38) is uranium with a lower content of the fissile isotope 235U than natural uranium.[2]

Natural uranium contains about 0.72% 235U, while the DU used by the U.S. Department of Defense contains 0.3% 235U or less. The less radioactive and non-fissile 238U constitutes the main component of depleted uranium.

Depleted is mostly U-238 which is still radioactive but the greatest danger is toxicity. It can also contain a small amount of U-235 which is fissionable and very radioactive.

Second huge overnight missile attack as close as 100 miles from the Polish border, hitting mainly ammo dumps and warehouses- nothing is safe inside the Ukie borders. Tons, hundreds of tons reported destroyed…..no telling how much of US taxpayers money is going up in smoke…..still waiting for the glorious Ukie offensive.

Good point. Also, dust can settle on surfaces downwind (surface contamination). But the dust disperses quickly in the environment. Particulate matter could be concentrated in puddles of rain water becoming mildly radioactive, ~10E-6 uci/ml.
But deleted uranium is less radioactive than uranium ore.

And yet, there are dumbasses, some right here on FR, who vehemently support these hostilities continuing indefinitely, becoming angry when people recommend a negotiated peace settlement.

Or there’s another source and another way to look at it.

What was the incoming missile made of / carrying?¿?

The problem with depleted uranium is that it is an alpha emitter. Alpha particles have a very short range but when ingested cause maximum cell damage.
