Mostly silent on the issue for the past year, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts on Wednesday filed a federal lawsuit arguing its First Amendment rights were violated and business harmed by a “relentless campaign” of retribution orchestrated by Gov. Ron DeSantis and other officials.

The 77-page lawsuit, filed in federal court in Tallahassee, pointed to retaliation for the entertainment giant’s opposition to a controversial 2022 law that restricts instruction about sexual orientation and gender identity in schools. It said the retaliation threatens the company’s...

Of course Disney could have stayed away from the issue and continued to work its predatory business model of selling amusement park services and extremely overpriced junk food to children and their families. Then there would have been nothing to “retaliate” against.

I have yet to see the allure of a family going to their park and dropping four figures or more for their cartoon capers.

True. And then they could have continued to abuse their “rights” they had under the old agreement to the state.

Go DeSantis. Ah, but I’m sure there will be Trump Disney supporters egging on Disney to promote their perverted activities. Yep, just what Trump supporters now promote, drag, LGBT+, and so forth. Nice.

Sorry Disney. The Fla legislature can pass any constitutional measures it wishes. You had no problem with it when they were doing your bidding. Good luck with the lawsuits. Separation of Powers and all that.

Disney resorting to half-baked lawsuits was something DeSantis and his team expected from the beginning. These baseless claims will prove to be as utterly unsuccessful as all their other efforts to date.

The pedos and groomers who infest this once wonderful organization like their hegemony, and they aren't giving up without a fight. Which is an odd position for them, they are finding, because they've become very used to everyone just bending over for them, both literally and figuratively.

Yup. Everything could have just gone along like before.

Something compelled them to do a very stupid thing.

And what right would that be? The right to have special perks no other person or business gets in the state?

“the retaliation threatens the company's “business operations, jeopardizes its economic future in the region and violates its constitutional rights.””

It has been said repeatedly that DeSantis and the state could not do anything that would hurt Disney; Disney was too big for human intervention.

Today Disney admits they are being hurt, and their business operations threatened, by having been placed on a level playing field with other Florida tourist traps.

But Disney's flimsy legal reasoning gives Democrats, and some Republicans, the opportunity to say ‘DeSantis is paying too much attention to cultural wars and not enough attention to funnel cake sales.”

“I have yet to see the allure of a family going to their park and dropping four figures or more for their cartoon capers.”

I also think Disney is highly over priced but is there work any different than paying a baseball player over $42K for two hours work less than 160 times a year?

Football’s even worse and basketball is the worst. LeBron James makes $119.5 million, including an estimated $75 million from sponsors, memorabilia, royalties and media to play in around 56 games lasting about two hours each a year. That comes to over $2M a game. It just depends on what the market value is. And the fan pays a lot at the box office for that also.
