I don’t do movie reviews because I don’t watch very many movies. I have a handful of movies that I dust off for semi-annual viewings (The Man Who Would Be King, Zulu, The Wind and the Lion, Master and Commander, Patton, We Were Soldiers Once, and Black Hawk Down among them), but movie-going is just not my thing. It seems like that when I do go out; my wife has chosen a movie, like, for instance, Father Stu and The Passion of the Christ.
When we do find a non-woke and non-morally objectionable movie, we try to support the people who made it. So when we heard that the team of Chuck Konzelman and Cary Solomon, who had written/directed a couple of movies we liked, God’s Not Dead and Unplanned, were bringing out another film, we decided we had to go on opening night to do our bit.
The film is called Nefarious and stars Sean Patrick Flanery in the dual role of Edward and the demon Nefarious, Jordan Belfi as Dr. James Martin, and Tom Ohmer as Warden Moss. Here’s where I am supposed to let you know something about the actors, but I’d be lying to you. I’d never heard of any of the three before yesterday.
We thought the trailer looked intriguing.
What was really intriguing was the interview Konzelman and Solomon gave the John-Henry Westen show, which has since been banned from YouTube for saying bad things about abortion and transgenderism. You can read and listen to it on LifeSiteNews. The interview starts at 7:29.
In this interview, the writers talk about the strange events that happened while filming the movie. On the first day, 15 cast/crew members were out with COVID, and one of the writers was hospitalized. This added $600K in costs for leasing the main set. The union went out on strike on Day 4 over issues that were drummed up. The priest working on the project suffered a burst appendix. The most bizarre happening was that over Christmas, Solomon decorated one-half of his house with secular imagery and one-half with religious imagery to satisfy his young son. An animal came down the chimney and destroyed the religious decorations, leaving the secular decorations untouched. A record-high wind ripped the roof off a building where post-production work was taking place.
None of it was as spectacular as Jim Caviezel getting struck by lightning while filming The Passion of the Christ, but it was close.
The plot is fairly straightforward. Edward is on death row in Oklahoma. On his execution day, questions about his mental competency arise, and the state has Dr. James Martin, a heavily credentialed psychiatrist, interview him. Martin has just a few hours to make his determination, and his findings will decide whether Edward lives or dies. To make things interesting, Martin is an atheist of a very modernist bent.
As he interviews Edward, he encounters the demon, a fallen angel, Nefarious. A duel proceeds in which Martin attempts to outwit a supernatural being (that never works out well), while Nefarious temps Martin with fame and fortune, but he needs Martin’s acquiescence to close the deal.
Here are my bullet points.
The larger theme of the movie is that evil is real, it is active in the world, and that unbridled freedom is necessary for it to happen. It reminds us that Satan needs our cooperation to function. It is going to hit Libertarians and some Democrats hard right where they live.
We took our self proclaimed pagan daughter to see it. She had a hard time with it because there was not far chases n multiple shootouts. Hubby didn’t like it as much as I did. I love Frank Perretti and this is a reminder that demons are real. Ephesians 6… This is who the Christian is fighting against.
I loved the part where Nefarious challenges him… you’re an aethiest and you do not believe this, stop why not.
The demons diary was pretty chilling.
The priest was what I see in many of todays churches.

It would be difficult for an exorcist to determine that they (the Democrats/Liberals) aren't possessed.
Anyone who can approve of leaving a breathing baby on a shelf to die (as in babies born alive) is clearly either possessed by or at least deeply involved with a demon.
If it feels intense, turn to prayer while you are are watching it. Psalm 23 works ... “The Lord is my shepherd”.
I often use the phrase “I take refuge in Jesus Christ.” as my go to prayer in times of turmoil.
Back that up with a prayer to invite the Holy Spirit into you, and you can walk through the valley of the shadow of death and it doesn’t affect you.
Every time I encounter a demonic spirit, as it is trying to create fear in me and drag me down to its level, I immediately thank it for reminding me to pray. It has the exact opposite effect they want and causes them to keep their distance.
Love your tagline quote, but it is not complete. It is an excellent reminder.

Another of Bonhoeffer’s quotes is very relevant right now.

It’s not complete because they entire quote won’t fit into the tagline space. Try it and see for yourself.
And regarding insanity being taken to the extreme by the Woke Movement, the only limit to that extreme is the imagination of the Wokesters. I am afraid they are just getting started.
Sean Patrick Flannery ... one of the Boondock Saints brothers MacManus. A favorite film, but not to everyone’s taste. And as stated in the credits of that movie, it is indeed time to “get busy”.
One of my favorites of Bonhoeffer’s quotes:

Did you watch the trailer for “Nefarious”? Given your professional experience, what did you think?
Yes. It is very accurate of reality in its portrayal except for a few details.
First, God would not put a person in that position of encountering evil without being there to protect him. Like the man interviewing the possessed inmate, I too got stung pretty bad doing this work. When I asked why, “They” replied that I needed the experience to learn and grow.
You must learn to Love God beyond words and Trust Him, even if it results in your own death. When you do, God’s Love radiates through you and protects you. The demon can’t even come close to you as they are afraid of the light of God.
This is why Jesus taught us to Love thy enemy. It is that Love that flows from God, not a human love. It protects you.
I’ve encountered men who had super human strength, tossing around big bar bouncers many times their size as though they were matchsticks. I merely pointed the palm of my hand toward them and they fell to the ground in a fetal position, barking and growling at me, trying to scare me.
My response is the same as the guy in the film.. “I want to talk with “Name of person”, not you.
These were not really demons, but spirits that had their own physical body at one time and were recruited by the demons. Demons never had their own physical body. These spirits will claim to be demons, but are not really.
The difference is that a demon’s soul does not have the spark of God that existed at its creation. The recruited earthbound souls doing the work of the demons does have this spark of God essence that created them. By helping them find that spark, it destroys their allegiance to evil.
I have encountered demons, and satan himself. The room got freezing cold as though I was in a blast freezer, even though it was a hot summer evening. I turned to Michael and said “There he is. You can get him.” to which Michael replied “It’s not time yet.”
That is when I realized that God is in control, even of satan, and His plan is unfolding exactly as it is supposed to and on His timetable. From a higher perspective, it is easy to understand how God is using evil to crush the egos of mankind as people are full of themselves. When they are full of themselves they have no room for God.
Satan is doing God’s work by getting rid of the old to make room for the new. This darkness must preceed the coming Light on earth.
The whole concept of rapture is to rise above the level of good and evil to be one with God. In doing so, you will not be effected by the evil on earth.
Demons = democrats
Demons = demoncrats, progressives, RINO’s, marxists, socialists, GenZ, and so on...

The guy is a conservative, and probably a Christian. He won’t be surprised if he is blacklisted after this.
Wrong. Democrats won’t even recognize themselves here.
How can evil be solved? At best only partial solutions.
Watch out for those that propose expensive solutions and solutions that restrict the freedom of the rest of us. Don’t underestimate the effectiveness of punishment and removal of evildoers from our midst.

I've listened to numerous podcasts recently by people working on AI systems and several of them sounded depressed because they discovered that AI is developing rapidly and will soon be able to replace mankind (for the most part). One guy even said rather sadly that it looks like the "era of man" is coming to an end.
I am curious if you have considered any of that and, if so, how you think it would fit into the end-time Biblical narrative.
I can see how the Image of the Beast is AI, but the rest of it is a mystery to me.
