Eleanor of Aquitaine died on the 1st of April 1204, 819 years ago.

She was said to be the most beautiful woman in Europe.

(Perhaps Melania Trump is hotter.)

I call Her a Woman For Freedom because of her wonderful effort in what she did to get her reproductive rights.

(NB I define reproductive rights as the right to reproduce not the twisted modern perversion of that phrase where reproductive rights are considered the right to abortion i.e. the right not to reproduce.)

Fellow Freepers, based on the image, which you can see by clicking the following link, I rate babelicious Queen Eleanor an 11 out of 10

Who agrees?

"No consummation, no marriage. Same as with Catherine of Aragon’s attempted union with Henry’s brother."

No, she had two daughters with Louis VII of France.

Then why did she call him a monk? Strange.

The bio I read of her never mentioned that comment. She actually rode into the 2nd Crusade with Louis VII, as the head of the soldiers from the Duchy of Aquitaine.

Note I said relative

Eleanor’s damage who knows

Her actions against her husband and Richards absences and early demise led the way to Magna Carta under John

Which laid a cornerstone to our govt and legal rights as a first step for nobles over the king

If ever a case could be made that a regent had too many sons lol it was Henry II

they don’t consider it murder so no risk to them. That’s why.

Some of them, especially the Wicca-related ones, DO consider it murder and are good with it.

Camille Paglia is far left, and a lesbo, but tends to be internally consistent. She is pro-abort and admits it is murder. Chris Rock (though obviously not a woman), too.

I FREQUENTLY hear the argument that a fetus the size of my thumb, living or not, does not have as many rights as a full grown woman.

Howdy back!! She did have an exciting life, and despite being 11 years older than Henry II, she managed to outlive him by 15 years.

I’m a little late to the party here, but there’s a sculpture in the MMA that came from Langon, FR. Langon is in Aquitaine, not far from Bordeaux. EoA once (at least) visited there and some say (some don’t) that it represents her.

You can see it here:
https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fichier:Notre-Dame-du-bourg_Langon_6.jpg
The faces are supposedly Eleanor and Henry. The eyes are rather stylized IMO but they are two distinct individuals, a woman and a man, sculpted circa the time of their historically recorded visit.

The debate details are here:
