The Last Straw of US

Well, that’s it for Disney for now and the predictable future – anything whatsoever to do with a Disney brand anything for this family. Disney-brand movies, Disney-owned media outlets, toys, games and clothing with Disney characters on them, the parks – the whole ball-o-wax. I was pretty certain I was done with them when I wrote this, almost a year ago. (Disney was already circling the drain with me, the year before, when this posted.) This most recent release of theirs has gone beyond offensive wokery, romped through partisan propaganda and plunged headlong into purveying outright lies – lies about American history, which to me, as a passionate reader of history (as well as a scribbler of historical fiction) is a form of blasphemy. Worse than that – a putrid and manipulative lie.

Slavery did not build this country. The ‘peculiar institution’ as it was described in antebellum writings, in fact rather retarded industrial development in the old South. I will concede that extensive production of cash crops as rice, tobacco, indigo and cotton did depend on slavery. Those enterprises enriched a small elite fraction of Southern slaveholders and kept the rest of the south relatively poor, undeveloped, and almost medieval in backwardness, although like the medieval nobility, convinced of their own superiority. Industry, innovation, and immigration all inclined to those places north of the Mason-Dixon line, while the South stagnated, even after Northern victory in the Civil War brought an end to chattel slavery.

My Ph.D. is in Cliometrics, which is the application of economic theory to historical periods and events. The study tries to answer counterfactual events with economic theory like: What would have been economic growth in the US if there was no Civil War?

The way the North and the South developed follows the resource base each had as the time. The North had fast-moving water which could power manufacturing while the South had slow-moving water ideal for barging agricultural products. The two regions worked in concert to produce a powerful economic system. Slavery was just a natural part of agriculture of the time. Indeed, the Nobel Prize book, Time on the Cross, was a two-part book that concluded, in economic terms, blacks were better off before the Civil War than after. To blacks at the time, many wished for the economic conditions (e.g., a place to live and raise a family, food every day, health care, etc.) of slavery. I doubt liberals want to talk about that.

“The road to hell is paved with good intentions”. That’s not exactly true. The whole anti-racism schtick that the Left practices with religious fervor seems good to them, but is based purely on lies and misplaced blame targeting a single group of people: whites. It is no more “good” than when Nazis decided to blame all their troubles on Jews. This was only for the purpose of committing the most egregious evils imaginable with a relatively free conscious.

“Well, that’s it for Disney for now and the predictable future – “

I wonder what took her so long. We dropped all things Disney in the mid-’90s because of their attraction to perversion. Then, it was “only” the suck-up to homosexuals.

Air conditioning saved the south.

Way too hot otherwise.

It’s one thing to insult your customers base, it’s suicide to target them for harm. What was the management of Disney thinking? The single Wokesters may have volunteered to be “enlightened” but parents and their children bond. So the theory of breaking the bond for whatever reason is going to be the death knell of Disney.

For me, it was LONG ago that I decided to never again view/purchase a disney product.

More people should do the same.

And don’t limit it to disney (I don’t).

We moved from Seattle to Kentucky in 2011. I tell people all the time that if God had not invented air conditioning there is no way we would have moved here. And I stand by that comment.

I dabble in disney. We have a TV that came with Disney plus and have watched a couple three shows on it but that’s about it. I’ll never go to another Park and I will never seek out another one of their movies.

“I dabble”

Kudos for your declaration ‘never’ but consider the extension of the quote above and you’ll have one more thing to add to ‘never’.

What was the management of Disney thinking?

They were thinking the revenue earned from “normals” who take family vacations to their overpriced parks and on their overpriced cruises, or subscribe to their streaming services to watch the classic animated films, combined with their insane tax-free status in Florida, would subsidize their latest woke agenda.

DeSantis is taking care of the tax issue. It’s up to the rest of us to take care of all the others.

Every year for about 3-4 months post Christmas, we watch in amazement as adults with grandkids do their Disney Pilgrimage Mecca trips/without their grandkids nor their adult kids.

Basically, no one in our age group, 75-85 does the annual Krazy Disney Mecca trip. Most never did more than 1 visit.

The generation below us, ages 64-74 are number 2 in their Disney Mecca insanity re their Mecca trips to a Disney fake world.

The #1 insane Disney Mecca group are in their early 50’s to early 60’s.

Their total life seems to evolve/revolve around their annual pilgrimage to their Disney Meccas. Their homes and cars look like a Disney store for seconds.

Many of the females in this group have red sweaters to wear and help the poor blacks in their world. No donations nor jobs, just wearing red shirts and sweaters to show their hatred of slavery. Many of these Disney disciples are doing these trips without husbands or any man in their non Disney lifes.
