Some Point Loma residents were startled Monday night by several loud “bangs” and low-flying helicopters just outside their homes.
San Diego Police confirmed to ABC 10News the situation was part of a “pre-planned military exercise.”
“The house was literally vibrating with it … it was scary! I immediately thought there’s something really serious going on in the neighborhood,” said Point Loma resident Martha Pistacchi.
Residents say living in this area, they’re used to frequent aircraft overhead.
Note that it wasn’t just Point Loma where this exercise took place: ‘The helicopters were seen in other nearby neighborhoods on Tuesday.‘
“But this time was different. I honestly thought something was going to land on the roof,” said Pistacchi.
Neighbors say the helicopters did briefly land in a park near Liberty Station.

I think they are practicing to chopper into North Korea and take out “Rocket Man” when and if he starts shooting any nukes.
I’m dead serious because that’s the ‘what if’ message sent out by official circles.
Of course there is also the need to get ready for the China-Taiwan situation.
What these people are experiencing is......THE SOUND OF FREEDOM!
They should be grateful.
Here in Southwest Arizona, the Marines do something like that about every two months as part of WTI training at Yuma. It's nothing sinister, just part of real world training.
Aren’t SEALs trained in Coronado nearby?
San Diego used to be a somewhat conservative area due to all the military personnel.
San Diego must be expecting the cartels to make their move into the U.S. now there well armed?.
Clearing deep state underground bunkers?
Why wouldn’t they give residents a heads up about this? I’m not buying the story line.
Stationed in San Diego for three years in the mid-70s. Even then san diegans were not very supportive of the Navy or USMC despite having a surface warfare naval base, nas miramar, nas san diego, navy and USMC bootcampS, and a myriad of training centers. we loved the weather but the town? Not so much
North Island Naval Air Station is in San Diego. Probably routine exercises and the military failed to notify the public.
Reason I say that is NAS Jax just had theirs a couple of weeks ago and it makes sense that the NASs schedule their exercises around the same time as each other.
The difference is here the military is pretty good at warning the public through the local media ahead of time thatcthere will be increased military aircraft traffic and explosions onboard the base.....just like what this story is describing.

SD County is, but the city is a cesspool.
Gotcha. Does it involve Mayport as well?
Some do carrier quals in JAX.
I think egress quals were there too.

Watch the video at the link. I've never seen exercises in a populated area like this.
I live in North San Diego County near Camp Pendleton, and they keep their exercises confined to the base proper.
Thanks.
Not sure about Mayport.
Also, sounds like some on this thread suspect something nefarious but I kinda doubt it.
Maybe the military is practicing to chase the next chinese ballon.....which should be along directly. 😁
Most of that area of San Diego is Navy property and what isn't is Fort Rosecrans national cemetery.
They could be doing the entire exercise over government land. I suspect some of the neighbors just don't like the military presence in general and bitch about anything to anyone who will listen. People who are old timers there know all about this stuff.
That sure doesn’t look like mere training.
Either they were conducting an actual operation and trying to pass it off as an exercise or else this was intended to be a distraction or diversion so the public saw this and not what was really happening.
