A man in Kansas was reportedly shot and killed by his own dog during a hunting trip. According to local outlet KAKE News, the victim, whose identity has not been revealed by authorities, was sitting in the front seat of his pickup truck when the tragedy occurred on January 21st in Geuda Springs, Sumner County, Kansas.

My dog and I usually get along really well, but we have our moments. Despite that, I don’t think he would shoot me and I would not shoot him.

The tragic news sparked calls for hunters to never carry a loaded rifle in their vehicle, as well as some snarky Facebook comments that irritated friends of the victim.Let's not descend to FB level.

We get about one of these a year. Not long ago a local dog pawed the trigger of a shotgun at just the wrong moment. Another hunter got it pulling the shotgun off the seat—dog got excited, jumped on the gun and pawed the trigger. Darwin keeps busy.

Had a neighbor whose dad who by hauled his loaded rifle with a rope into the blind and shot himself...dead.
