The Conference Board’s Leading Indicator should be called The Bleeding Indicator given that the leading index has declined to 10 straight months. This is happening as The Fed tightens monetary policy to combat inflation.

Leading indicators include economic variables that tend to move before changes in the overall economy. These indicators give a sense of the future state of an economy.

How about mortgage rates? Settling in a 6.47%.

There is an image that has Fed Chair Powell in it. It says “Better call Powell”. Why call him? The problem is us. We keep voting for idiots that do nothing but spend our money and then print more.

Money growth dies? Does that mean the value of our currency is dropping? If so, I’m surprised it took this long for the dollar to weaken....

Money growth dies means inflation will be reduced but there is a delay as to how fast inflation falls. Usually what happens is that the FED puts the brakes on and then we hit a recession and then people lose their jobs and politicians who want votes start spending like mad again and they want the FED to step on the gas and accelerate the printing press causing inflation again.

Yep, a single draft beer costs what a good buzz used to back in the day.

A specie standard as demanded by the Constitution would fix that.

My dad collected coins, including commemorative items from the US mint.....State quarters, etc.

He passed recently and when cleaning out his place I found a box with 14 of the $1 presidential coins. I realized you can’t buy anything with one of them - other than a single stamp.

When I was a kid in the early 70s you could by lunch. After delivering my newspapers I’d stop at mcdonalds for 2 burgers, fries and a drink for a buck. When I got my first job in ‘79 I could get a buttered roll and a cup of coffee on the way to work for a buck....

the dollar is becoming worthless....

There is nothing any of us personally can do. The only thing we can do as citizens is vote people in that are fiscally responsible. This is the advice of Milton Friedman.

Problem now is that this is much harder with vote fraud entrenched, fighting the propaganda and people are dumber than ever. And probably the biggest issue - open debate ist verboten.

That voting thing doesn’t seem to be certain or working very well does it?

My sis said: “Things have never been certain, but they have never [not in my recollection] been this uncertain.”
