I just bought a new Harley. It is so beautiful. I love it so much.
I am thinking of going to Bike Week in Daytona in March, driving in the AM from Orlando.
Anyone even been there before? Anyone going again this year? Was it cancelled last year and/or the year before?
you’ll love it. I live in WP, very near Orlando :). Used to go to Bike week in the 70’s/80’s.
‘Come on in and take a seat; it’s better than being across the street!’ (Boothill Saloon, across from the cemetery :))
Black bike week, held annually in Myrtle Beach, is where you need to go. It will be held this year at the end of May.
Enjoy yourself despite the looting, crime, violence and negritude.

I went three years back in college.
Was almost attacked by a gang after going head to head with the leader, directed traffic around a biker who tried to stop on a slippery road, but his bike went under him and slid under the car in front of him, and so much more.
Good times.
Haven’t been in decades.
I was born and raised in Daytona Beach. Lots of skipping school during Speed Week and Bike week.
If you go, don’t stay in Daytona.
Stay in St. Augustine, Jacksonville or Some other town that is within 100 miles.
Be aware also that the biker gangs also show up then.
But they usually won’t bother you if you don’t bother them...............
Couple of suggestions.
There is always a lot going on at and around Bruce Rossmeyers Destination Daytona in Ormond if you don’t want to get into the Daytona proper bike gridlock.
A lot of biker hangouts like Iron Horse have satellite establishments on US-1 in that area but being your 1st time maybe you want the total experience.
If you do decide to go downtown cruise main street your own peril.....last time I did it, it took a half hour to go 5 blocks......basically walked the bike the whole way....with the wife on the back I might add....a complete zoo atmosphere....
not enjoyable.
We usually go on last Sunday of the rally.....a lot of out of the out of staters have bugged out so it’s a lot less congested AND the vendors are desperate to unload their Daytona bikeweek Tee shirts....if you think about it, where else can they sell a shirt that says “Daytona Bikeweek 2023”?
2 for 1 and even 3 for one shirts is not uncommon. I’ve picked up tons of nice shirts really cheap that way.
Don’t drink alcohol and ride, not only because it’s illegal and dangerous, also there’s enough of that already going on......I’ve seen guys get off their bike and could hardly walk and many times that no later than lunchtime. If you do i’d suggest moderation......Daytona cops have absolutely NO sense of humor......but that’s a whole nother personal story.
Last and most importantly.......Enjoy and RIDE SAFE. đ
No mention of Broken Spoke and Cabbage Patch?
Never went to bike week but stayed in Daytona when I drove the track a few years ago
Daytona is mostly a $**thole. Even the Hard Rock, where I stayed, was a dump.
Best thing about cabbage patch is the coleslaw wrestling.
The bar is so small you gotta go outside change your mind.
The Last Resort is is pretty cool......plenty of room to park the bike right on the property and live bands.
much closer to stay in New Smyrna Beach. There’s a few issues going on though, all up and down the coast, with available condos severely diminished due to the storms. Will make it tough for bike week people
Also hotels/motels implement a minimum night stay to get around the price gouging laws knowing people will pay for extra nights and leave early.
That too.
Bttt.

Congrats on the new ride. I personally tend to stay away from the mega rallies. There is just too much going on that can turn weird in an instance. The only rally I go to anymore is Bikes Blues and BBQ in Arkansas. But our little group doesnât go to the events and doesnât hang with the main crowds. We hit the vendor stands and shop for cool stuff and then hit the Pig Train and Arkansas Tail. We stay out of the main city opting for a hidden getaway from VRBO or other.
Best bet is to get with some buddies and head out a ride. That new bike of yours is just itching for some open roads and curves.
Stay safe and keep the rubber side downâŚ..
You ought to do it once at least, though. You might like it.
I have been there more times than I can count including for my honeymoon and several times as sponsor and crew chief for Daytona 200 bike race. It is a must for any motorcyclist.
My favorite restaurant is the Lighthouse at Ponce Inlet.
