SoFi Stadium has already eliminated one of the trademark elements to a college football game.
Ahead of the national championship game on Monday between TCU and Georgia, as part of the announcement for parking, a message notes that, “Tailgating will not be allowed in any SoFi Stadium parking lot.” RVs also will not be allowed to park at SoFi Stadium.

Gotta be lefties runnung things there.
Civil Disobedience is called for................😉
Can one sit in their car and drink a beer?
No tailgating!? Especially at an SEC-involved game?
I mean, I’m not an SEC grad, but that simply IS NOT DONE!
Wow, that’s going to raise a serious stink.
Interesting thing, when I sell my tickets on stub hub, the pink pass sells at a premium, and quickly. Best deal I've found is at Hollywood Park Casino, adjacent to SoFi. $95 dollars for all you can eat and drink for 3.5 hours before kickoff. They also deal blackjack outside while this is going on. It might seem like a lot but the $18 drinks inside really add up fast, and the food is better than in the stadium.
Been a looong time since I attended a football game, but I do remember your typical tailgater party taking up two or three parking slots once the barbie, the multiple coolers, and the lawn chairs were deployed. Not to mention the risk of drunken tailgaters injuring themselves in ways too creative to be believed, and then suing the venue.
It doesn’t force fans to concessions. Not like you can bring your tailgate in. Just keeps you from having to clean up the mess of a party in the parking lot.
It’s more they worried about NFL fans killing each other in the parking lot than concession dollars.
Yep. They ruin everything.
The SEC’s first mistake was having the game at a site with the name “SoFi.”
Giants fan Bryan Stow got beaten half to death about a decade ago, in the lot at Dodger Stadium. Ever since then, any kind of parking lot parties in LA have become verboten. Cost of insurance, security, and lawsuits pretty much ruined another good thing.
Just another reason why I rarely venture beyond the Orange Curtain, into LA County, in the modern era . . .
Is SoFi on the FR sh*t list?
I know it’s run by a former Army Ranger.
No, SoFi just doesn’t seem very SECish IMO. YMMV.
Do we really want to have tailgating in Inglewood?
‘surgical tubing as a delivery system’
Fantastic memory of an incident at a Stanford University football game. The marching band was on the field. Some entrepreneurs in the audience had constructed a large slingshot: a big bowl with surgical tubing. They put a large water balloon in the bowl. Two people on each end of the tubing anchored the device, while two other people pulled the bowl back enough to launch the water balloon at the marching band. Somehow, someway, they were able to hit the tuba player right in the large tuba. He or she went over backwards, flat on their back.
Have you ever been to LA or a big stadium in the middle of the city?? People sell parking on their front yards. I was in LA for the ‘84 Olympics- i parked on the same dudes lawn every day for a week going to the Coliseum for track and field. Ditto for the times i was in Miami for a football game- both the Orange Bowl and the new place.
Guarantee you every business close to the stadium that has a parking lot will be charging $50 to $100 to park in their lot.
“driving through the parking lot to try to find a parking space was a nightmare.”
And God help you if some fan, maybe sober or not, runs into your car causing damage or the fan dragging you into court for a lawsuit because he/she was concentrating on catching a thrown football, that may hit your car and cause damage. And besides the trash problem, and the scratching of your paint, running a sharp object through your tire trying to find that elusive parking spot, and having no one seeming to drop it there, is also a possibility. It will also cost the stadium money for trash collection, posting toilets in the lots, and security to keep it under control not to mention illegal consumption of alcohol and drugs in large crowds. And if this is considered a tradition with the laws it breaks, then I guess trashing a town for the winners or rock groups destroying hotel rooms is acceptable.
This decision was not made by the city or the stadium. It was made by the College Football Playoffs Organization:

And in this website, their is a way to get parking with lots that may offer the tailgate experience. But the SoFi and CFP will not be responsible and at that point the tailgaters will.

Yup- i go to games often for a team i won’t mention. I get there 3 hours before kick off to light up the grill and walk into the stadium 5 minutes into the 1st quarter.
Its always fun 40 minutes before game time watching some pissed off fan drive through the parking lot upset because he has to navigate through the tailgaters and can’t find a spot to park. Almost as much fun as watching them try an pull into a tight spot and not knock over grills, tables, etc.
