Kind Pilot Adopts German Shepherd Abandoned at San Francisco Airport
The Pet Zealot ^ | December 28, 2022 | James Alain L.

A United Airlines pilot adopted a black German Shepherd dog who was abandoned by his owner at San Francisco International Airport. The 6-year-old dog and his owner arrived at the airport from China in late August. However, The CDC wouldn't allow the dog to enter the United States because he didn’t have the proper documents. Besides, The CDC has strict rules about animals arriving from high-risk countries for rabies. Consequently, the dog's owner abandoned his fur baby and continued his trip to New York State.

That poor little boy, forced to give up his dog. Since they were bringing the dog, they probably were moving to the U.S. and couldn’t reschedule their trip.

You’d think that a non-fatal test for rabies would’ve been discovered by now, but there’s only so much research money and so many diseases that affect far more people.

The dog couldnt get in with say a lousy visit to the vet for a checkup?

Meanwhile millions of two legged threats simply waltz over the border and do what they please?

Yea that makes sense

However, the airline named the dog Polaris and unrelentingly urged The CDC to reconsider its ruling about the animal. Fortunately, the agency granted Polaris the German Shepherd a reprieve but ordered a four-month quarantine. Polaris spent some time at the airport sleeping in an office being later flown first class to the Los Angeles quarantine station.

I'll bet the original owner is thrilled that their dog was taken away but allowed to live in an office for four months until it could be given to someone else. (Article says the owner "abandoned" the dog. But what choice did the owner have?) The original owner is never mentioned again in the article. I wonder if they given were given the chance to get their pet back after the quarantine period was over.

Is the pilot Chinese? Otherwise, how did the CDC let the pilot take the dog but not its owner?

If the owner had no option but to abandon the dog, how is this dog adoptable at all? It sounds like it just needed a vet certificate or quarantine time that the owner didn't want to pay for.

I’m glad the people that forced this on the dog and owners were left holding the bag. The dog may have gotten the best deal in the end, too! If they’re going to participate in an evil system, then they can deal with the consequences.

If the previous owner is Chinese, he was just bringing his lunch.

I got a German shepherd from an ethnic Chinese family that I had to reteach the commands in English. The family was bilingual but only spoke Chinese at home.

Easier for Chinese Covid carriers to come right in.

But another report about the CDC said Chinese with possible new strain of Covid have come into the US at various airports and now the CDC wants new arrivals shut down. "China Covid: US considers restrictions on Chinese arrivals" after "Half of Passengers on Two Flights From China Test Covid Positive in Milan."

The CDC can stop a dog from coming in, but they have zero interest in the border.

He might have been from Belgium, and only takes commands in Flemish.
