To paraphrase Reagan: “I didn’t leave the workforce - the workforce left me.”

Gee they have done everything to drive men out of the workforce. The only demographic that can be legally discriminated against, especially if white. And if the man is older they fire him because health and higher salary.

While inflation-adjusted wages have increased "significantly" for men with college-level schooling or more

Hilariously false. Did they not look at their own data in the chart?

It shows college grads made $27.50/hr in 1970 and $29.00/hr in 2015.

An increase of $1.50/hr over a 45 year interval. That works out to 3 cents/hour/yr. THAT IS NOT SIGNIFICANT.

I have two daughters in their late twenties. I was not blessed with a son, so I can’t really speak from experience about how to avoid raising a lazy ass son. I can speak to the other side of the equation, meaning there’s a great woman out there for men that do the right things. Not to boast, but my daughters are great women. They got that way by being instilled with high expectations for themselves and their men.

My daughters have high expectations in men. My eldest daughter is married to a airborne ranger, who is highly educated, BS and MS degrees, he has studied abroad. He is in excellent physical condition and takes care of his body. He’s speaks multiple languages, has a personality, although a tab bit stoic, is God fearing, a conservative, a great father to my grandson, a musician, and calls me sir.

My youngest is dating a lawyer, who’s a partner in a firm that just acquired two other firms, he practices tax and corporate law, and his main client is an international oil exploration and production company. He’s God fearing, a libertarian, major 2a advocate that frequently goes to the range. He hunts and has decent tastes in music. He’s in decent physical shape, thin and trim, but not very muscular. He doesn’t call me sir, so I don’t have to tell him not to like I do with my son in law.

These two young men will go far in life. They are the antithesis to these lazy asses that play video games and watch porn all day. They have high expectations and are matched with women that have high expectations. They have standards. I can only assume these lazy ass unemployment boys have no standards or expectations. Apparently, no one told them that they will get what the aim for. Probably, something along the lines of several men’s baby momma, semi-toothless slut that speaks incoherently about what she saw on daytime TV. Her dream home is a double wide close to her meth dealer. That really isn’t too much hyperbole.

Last week, CNN featured a story called "Men are dropping out of the workforce. Here's why" The article went on to tell us virtually nothing at all about why so many men are leaving the workforce.

Par for the course!

This article, in contrast, provides loads of specific info!

Regards,

I have decided to leave the workforce. Not because of this article: I had already resolved to leave. I’m good at my job. But I’m almost 71 years old and I think I can afford to be unemployed.

I think social rather than economic factors are responsible for a lot of this. Everybody - including women - was happier when people got married in their early to mid 20s and more women were homemakers. Men were more motivated to work. Women were happier according to opinion surveys, and the birthrate was at a sustainable level.

but has gone into steep decline among high school dropouts and those with no college.

Because government handouts reduce the value of marginal effort. IOW, you won't make much more at minimum wage than you would if you were on the dole.

Gee, so private central bank policy has much to do with men quitting. That makes it purposely planned.

Here is a great video about the scurge of a private central bank and the Federal Reserve, despite its name, IS a private central bank.

I wonder how the decline in male workforce participation tracks with the decline in the US economy vis-a-vis the world. There are certain occupations for which one HAS to show up. To name just a few, there are construction, plumbing, healthcare, anybody who touches a product. With the exception of the last one, all are male dominated.

Binder and Bound meanwhile note declining marriage rates are closely tied to workforce participation overall. This works in both directions: Declining incomes lead to declines in marriage. But unmarried men also have less incentive to actively seek employment.

Women used to use their 20's to actively seek out a suitable husband. This gave men an incentive to be seen as suitable, by having a good job and good career prospects.

Increasing numbers of young women are spending their 20s partying around with men who are desirable but have no interest in marriage, while ignoring the average men.

Men who do not have women in their lives are more likely to turn to drugs.

“Leaving the workforce?” They are kicked out. Colleges graduate more females than males. Men are denied jobs in favor of women. Men at work are accused of harassment. Men are denied promotions.

Unless they are “trans men”, but then they are not men.

I just started a new job. Fairly small company <60 employees yet they have an HR dept. You get an interview, get drug tested on site, get an appointment for a physical then go back in for four hours of orientation and have to watch 4 hours worth of stupid movies and slide presentations. Fill out a test on that info which includes harassment bs etc. Background check too of course. All for a shop job. Then you get a card plus program two machines with your index finger prints to get in and out of doors. As the song says, I feel like a number. #2270 to be specific.

Three trips spread out over two months and a total of 10 hours to get this blue collar job.

30-40 years ago, I’d walk into a place and ask if they needed help. They ask if I could read a tape measure and maybe weld etc. I’d say yes. They’d say; “When can you start?”

Most involved it would be is I ask if they need help, they hand me an app, I fill it out and I’d get to see someone right away for a 1/2 hour interview and at the end; “When can you start?”

With this new job, like all these days that have HR, there’s a 50 page company policy book. 30, 60, 90 day reviews where I’m sure they’ll list off all the data points they’re collecting. With the nasty weather, they closed down production the day before yesterday but Maintenance still got to work yesterday. Head of Maint basically told me not to come in because I have so far to drive. I bet that day off will be used against me though on my 30 day review.

There’s at least one gay guy working there and a few women. Can’t make a comment or look at any of them for too long or the wrong way, with no definition as to what that means. There’s guys walking around like zombies or robots because they’re afraid to look at or speak to anyone.

Place I worked at for 4-5 months 10 years ago also had an HR dept and utilized it to keep a flexible work force. Same size company, strict attendance rules, 50 page company policy. CEO would walk around with a clipboard held close to his chest, stop and watch you and take a few notes. You’d ask a direct supervisor for a day off or let them know you needed to be late or leave early and they’d give you permission every time. “I don’t have a problem with it” was the term they used. They would extend your probationary period indefinitely with no real reason given. Then coming up on Christmas, they’d call 20-30 people up to HR one at a time and fire them. It was an annual affair and the HR lady could care less if you had permission from a shop supervisor, who were all the son in laws of the CEO.

That CEO was deathly afraid of people Unionizing so the company also played depts against each other. They had a bonus system that was based on dept performance so only one dept got the bonus. Sometimes it would be obvious that one dept had a heavy workload and got it all done yet some other dept would get the bonus.

In the past, I worked at a lot of places where we had fun and produced a lot of work. Now everyone’s scared or pissed off due to companies playing data or head games with everyone. Most companies are top heavy now too because of the extraneous bs system they have to run. Aside from the 50 page policy manual, I had to read and sign off on having read another 50 pages at this current job. More data points they can track.

I’m making $2.00 more an hour than I did 15-20 years ago.

I’m working on multi-million dollar machines and started out at $2.00 more per hour than the fast food places start at. That’s the going rate for all the factory jobs around here.

So yeah, pardon the language but a lot of guys are saying fuck that shit. There’s not much feeling of self worth working for a company these days.
