The Queen’s reaction to seeing images of herself walking next to Donald Trump has been revealed.
Friend of Prince Philip, Gyles Brandreth, claimed that instead of being offended by Trump’s gaffe, she was amused.
Donald Trump was welcomed by Queen Elizabeth to Windsor Castle as the official part of his visit to the UK drew to a close.
The Queen was not offended by the faux pas according to friend of Prince Philip, Gyles Brandreth. Chris Jackson Her Majesty greeted the then US leader and First Lady Melania Trump in the quadrangle of the royal residence.
Mr Trump spoke of his admiration for the Queen in an interview with the Sun ahead of the encounter, in which he called her a “tremendous woman”.
However, as the Queen accompanied Mr Trump along the quadrangle where the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards were waiting, he accidentally broke royal protocol, walking ahead of Her Majesty.
The Queen was forced to walk around him instead.
Royal protocol determines that people must always stand when the King or Queen enter the room, curtsy or bow, and never turn their backs on them.
In an upcoming biography, Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait, it is revealed that the Queen was not offended by the faux pas and instead found it funny.
An excerpt published by the MailOnline claims: “Far from being offended, she was amused.
“And that night, when the Queen saw herself on television, bobbing about behind him, she laughed out loud.”
Her Majesty greeted the then US leader and First Lady Melania Trump in the quadrangle of the royal residence. Ben Stansall Last week, Gyles Brandreth claimed in the same book that during the final year of her life, the Queen battled with a painful cancer which killed her.
Queen Elizabeth officially died on September 8 from "old age", according to her death certificate.
Mr Brandreth wrote: "I had heard that the Queen had a form of myeloma - bone marrow cancer - which would explain her tiredness and weight loss and those ‘mobility issues’ we were often told about.”
And Michele put her arm around the Queen!
The Queen took that in stride, too.
Agree.
IMO, “President of the United States” trumps “Queen of the United Kingdom” ...
She’s so short, he probably didn’t even see her.........
So what day die she really die on?
I suspect she actually died during the night, but it wasn’t announced until the next morning until after Harry arrived...........
Precisely, and you expressed it so well :)
She was an example to all the world. I hope we can keep her in memory, now that we have lost her. As you said, there has never been anyone like her, nor will there ever be another.
Perhaps she inherited some of it from her grandma Vickie:
“As the story goes, Queen Victoria was hosting a guest from a foreign country. At the end of the meal, finger bowls of water were passed around so that everyone could clean their hands. The guest of honour had never seen such a thing so he lifted it to his mouth and drank it. Stunned silence passed through the room until the Queen raised her finger bowl to her mouth and drank. And then all the guests followed suit.”

She should walk behind him. Protocol? He was the elected leader of the largest powerhouse on earth. The driving force of civilization. She was just in the lucky sperm club, and has never won a single vote in her life. A monarch is a lesser creature than any American president who is legitimately elected. It’s not the job in American president to follow monarchy protocol.
What a wonderful story!
Holy 1776, Batman, do we still kowtow to British royalty?
She took him out to inspect the troops. That means he walks ahead. An American president should not ask submissive to a monarch.
Yet, I notice foreigners never have to follow American rules of decorum.
What was the unofficial date?
Some foreigners don’t even have to follow American statutory law ...
Bingo. And, that is why the losers who hated both her and DJTrump did so — they both had class. Not the snotty NYC type of class, down to earth.
It’s a distraction for an American president to know that he is always have to step off with the left foot, can’t step in front of the queen, all the terms he hast to use for her, the meaning of each and every little nuance. It distracts from his actual mission. All in American president is expected to do is be polite within his own culture, and it’s for the lesser foreigners to look and observe that no one is trying to offend anybody. It’s the same around the world. Foreigners never act even slightly concerned about American sensibilities, when those existed. For example, a Saudi king was never told not to walk along holding hands with George Bush because Americans will think he’s a homo.
And we saved that country twice. The proper thing is for them to show us deference and respect. She needs to make sure she doesn’t have found an American president. Which she did. Monarchist protocol has no meaning for an American.
One could say that any recognition of local customs is a ‘distraction’. And I don’t think it’s too hard to remember to walk behind the queen, don’t touch the queen, and to address her properly. Little British kids learn all of this at a very young age - certainly a U.S. President could master it.
Again, the Queen is very understanding of all of this.. But it would have been nicer if Trump and the Obamas could extend themselves similarly.
“he accidentally broke royal protocol, walking ahead of Her Majesty.”
We’re Americans. Not royal subjects.
