Ron DeSantis And Gavin Newsom: What Will They Do In 2024?
19FortyFive ^ | 11/27/2022 | W. James Antle

Now all eyes are on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. He is also coming off a big reelection win in a state that has become a symbol of his party’s governance nationwide. He and Newsom were putting themselves in position to run for president while respecting the frontrunner status of former President Donald Trump and Biden, respectively.

Though weakened by the midterms, Trump has already announced he is running for president again in 2024. Biden was strengthened by them, and while a final decision is still forthcoming, he appears to be leaning heavily in favor of seeking a second term.

DeSantis Says He Opposes Tariffs, But Thought They Were Just a Negotiating Technique. According to the Tampa Bay Times, “This is the Art of the Deal,” agreed DeSantis. “I don’t want to see where we move to high tariffs across the board. But I don’t think the president wants that. I think he looks at the imbalances of the tariff situation where even our allies will charge exorbitant tariffs just for us to access these markets. So I think he’s doing it as a tool to bring tariffs down and give American companies more access to foreign markets which would obviously be a good thing.” [Tampa Bay Times, 6/11/18]

“Why would Desantis..”

Takes a lot of money to run from President.
And the ones with the big bucks expect something for their contributions.
Deals and compromises are made.
If you back out of the deal ..you might get the FBI treatment.
Meanwhile, they’ve manage to slip a few deep state sleeper cells into your cabinets..who mission is to undermine your presidency.

people like Jeb Bush and Paul Ryan line up behind him and all it says to me is the uniparty came up with a price my Gov liked.

People are rallying behind DeSantis because DeSantis is a winner. DeSantis wins elections. DeSantis wins re-elections. Ryan endorsed Trump in 2016. Trump endorsed Ryan in 2016. Trump endorsed Romney in 2018.

I support Trump because of who HATES him.

So what? Trump loses elections. Trump gets Democrats elected. What good does that do anyone? A lot of these same people hate Alex Jones too. That doesn't mean Jones can get elected president.

So you're quoting from the Tampa Bay Times to prove your point? You realize that's no better than referencing the Washington Post or the New York Times, don't you? Suddenly these 'news' outlets are believable? Who knows what they rearranged, took our of context, left on the cutting room floor or just plain made up.

You don't live here, so I guess you can be excused for not knowing what's going on here in Florida. That being the case, you may want to you cool your jets.

I like Trumps track record which this year have been about 90%. Ron DeSantiss is great but I don’t trust his fans. So you vote for your guy and I will vote for mine. But unless we get fraud ballot harvesting and counting votes on the up and up forget ever winning another election unless the uni party owns you.

I agree with Joe B. Folks who live in Florida and see DeSantis on a nearly daily basis have a MUCH higher regard for his based conservative quals than do non-Floridians who only see him as opposition to Trump.

I’ll vote for either man if nominated. I refuse to take part in the standard GOP circular firing squad, which only benefits the Rats.

And DeSantis man-handles the liberal press even better than Trump. Just as aggressive, but smarter, and never shooting himself in the foot.

I like Trumps track record which this year have been about 90%.

Trump's track record is 90% only when you include the safe seats that he endorsed and who would've won no matter what. People like Chuck Grassley, Marco Rubio, and Rand Paul. Trump endorsed these men but he had nothing to do with their wins. They were coasting to effortless re-elections.

When you look at the several candidates Trump personally hand-picked to run in the swing states that he's going to need to win in '24, his record is much, much worse.

Almost all of these candidates were defeated in what was a sound rejection of Donald Trump.

This does not bode well For Donald Trump's re-election chances in 2024.

I could’ve gone either way awhile back. Then I asked myself why would people whom I disagree with almost everything about suddenly be keen on DeSantis. That’s just me.

Concur, Matt. I'll be happy to pull the lever for either man. That's what central_va can't seem to understand. That, and his/her constant attacks on DeSantis are playing right into the hands of the enemy. Deterring that is my goal here, something I have posted on several times over the last week or so. With limited success.

Total bullshi+.

Folks who actually live in Florida like Joe and me, who see DeSantis constantly MAUL the liberal press, actually better than Trump ever did, (no own-goals), we tend to think a LOT more of DeSantis, than folks like you who only see cherry-picked liberal media clips of him shown in other states.

You have, IMHO, “reverse TDS.”

I’ll vote for either man, happily.

I will NOT participate in your stupid and self-defeating fratricide, only helping the RATS.

You are delusional and hallucinating out of your severe “reverse TDS.”

Please copy and paste where Joe B. trashed Trump at 72. He didn’t.

You are hallucinating.

Desantis is very weak on trade, tariffs and the repatriation of critical US industries. He is a typical GOPer in that regard. I can see him caving regarding reduction of “carbon emissions” too. He will be easily pushed around by the globalist establishmsnt. We can see that coming. DeSantis for President is a half baked idea. I prefer my cake fully baked.

Lol…like Trump did better ….and won’t do the same?
His judgement to choosing advisors is a major major flaw…not that he isn’t a better choice than any democrat but….

Reality: he is 76 yr old. Eventually nature gets a vote no matter how fiercely loyal people are to one man and cannot even have the conversation without attacks.

I really think Trump has erred by ego by not annointing a new Trumpism leader, if not DeSantis then someone else

Wakie wakie

central_va, you need to take a break. "Just stop trashing Trump. Get it?" Point out where I 'trashed Trump', on this or any thread. You can't. I have supported the man since 2015, without reservation or hesitation. Why is that so hard to comprehend?
