When you press ‘follow’ and go back you have un-followed from his account... everyone is complaining about it. One person said those numbers you just cited are the computers at Twitter repopulating his account with his old followers.. so might be best to wait until that is done.

It might not be new followers. I just read the computers are repopulating his account with his old followers. That is why when you go to follow him now, it automatically unfollows you.

I would agree, this is not about free speech.
It may be about free promotion/advertisement for musk and trump.
Getting this in the news not under main stream media is a winning.

The 1st Amendment doesn’t apply to businesses.
Yet, we're allowing businesses to exist that DO RESTRICT free speech. Hiding behind the veil of something being a 'private business' is how totalitarian regimes begin and continue to exist . Once any entity is allowed to exist to restrict freedom of speech, then, there is nothing to stop others to do the same. It's why we now have places like CNN and MSNBC, which are nothing but mouthpieces for the one-sided democratic party.
The democrats have taken the freedom to appropriate unions and newspapers and TV/radio network and most recently, social media sites, and even the education systems,to spout their agenda while 'forbidding' the voices and opinions they don't like.
While not looking, democrats have used the same arguments and language, that YOU and a lot of others use to 'protect free speech'. It's what they want. It's what they use to censure the real free speech.
A business that exists to speak to all Americans, and that censures those they don't like, should not exist, if it's going to pretend that they have the right to speak whatever they want 'in the name of free speech'. Media businesses that exist to censure others, are not really advocates of free speech.
Think it over carefully. We are being duped. A constitutional right is being used to destroy the constitution itself.

1A only applies to government action.
Government is not all powerful, and it's there to protect our freedoms. But, if government does protect our rights, then, those protections should be applied equally across all business and across all opinions. https://freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/4110499/posts?page=89#89
