Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene expressed support for Rep. Kevin McCarthy's bid for House speaker . Greene criticized the possibility of fellow conservative Republicans challenging McCarthy . "Well, I actually think that's a bad strategy," she said on Monday.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Monday expressed support for Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's bid for House speaker as rumors swirl about the Republican conference's hard-line conservative wing mounting a challenge against him.
"Well, I actually think that's a bad strategy when we're looking at having a very, razor-thin majority, with potentially 219. We're talking about one vote," Greene said on Steve Bannon's "War Room" podcast about reports of House Freedom Caucus Republicans, such as Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona, considering challenging McCarthy.
Midterm results are still trickling in, though Republicans appear on track to control the House. McCarthy, widely seen as the frontrunner for the top post, needs 218 votes to earn the speakership come January 3, 2023, when the new Congress begins. But, under a likely narrow majority, McCarthy would need to win over almost every Republican, including members of the influential House Freedom Caucus, to become speaker.
"It's very, very risky right now to produce a leadership challenge, especially for speaker of the House," Greene said, warning that some moderate Republicans could join Democrats and propose outgoing Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming as speaker. Cheney, a staunch critic of former President Donald Trump, lost her reelection, but could technically become House speaker if she receives enough votes, though such a move is uncommon.

I agree. But it is clear discussions are going on, and this cold calculus is known not just to us, but to Democrats, Republicans, and Trump and his team.
It isn’t a secret.
Facts are stubborn things.
Those without a “D” after their name (or the last name of McCarthy) are trying to figure out how to make an edible sandwich out of the s**t sandwich resulting from a stolen and corrupt elections.
That will be a little difficult when they were complicit in those stolen elections. When you remain silent over criminal acts you know occurred, you are complicit, and condone the criminal behavior by remaining silent.
Yes. But these are scummy politicians and they are all as complicit as they have to be to stay in power.
I agree with you. We hear the execrable fat slob Chris Christy saying opposition to abortion was the reason there was no red wave.
So? Is he saying we should keep our mouths shut and let the slaughter continue so we can “stay in power”?
Nonsense.
The Uniparty has us over a barrel. There have not been two parties for quite a while.
So much for all that “party of Trump” gobbledygook that Democrats and the media have been spewing about the GOP, right?
Trump backs McCarthy for Speaker, Stefanik for House GOP chair

Marjorie and Trump I trust.
At first I thought this was a Babylon Bee article.
And don’t forget the grey aliens from area 51 who are really controlling everything via the fake vaccines and the 5G networks....just sayin. Oh and don’t forget the CFR, the Illuminati, and the Bilderburgs.
I hear you
Yes, that's exactly what he's saying. Remember, until Trump, the GOPe was nominating Presidential candidates who didn't want to rock the boat, so they stayed silent when attacked, didn't fight back, and allowed the media to easily paint them into a corner, because they wouldn't defend themselves. Trump was a breath of fresh air. That's why they hate him so much. You're supposed to remain passive, and not say anything untoward about your political enemies, even if they are from your own party. Trump never should have given Christy, or a lot of the RINOS, the time of day, but then he would have been attacked for that too.
I agree, that is what he is saying. What I disagree with is what he is saying.
But McCarthy is neither moral nor right in his calculations.
“I hope he says he’s not going to run in 2024.”
Ditto.
I’d prefer someone else.
I’ll vote for the R nominee.
It would be great if things worked as they should. Less emphasis on destroying fellow Rs. Just an honest primary where each candidate makes their pitch why he / she is best. Select one. Then support that one.
NeverTrump was AlwaysWrong.
Same goes for TrumpOrDie.
As a likely loser in 2024 Trump’s influence in the future would be on par with Ross Perot’s today.
I don’t wish that dustbin fate for him.
Just one problem with that theory. Trump endorsed McCarthy for Speaker before the election, when everyone still expected the GOP to have a huge majority in the House. You can't explain Trump's endorsement as "reading tea leaves".
“I may not always have power, but I will always have influence”
Somehow Pelosi has her hands in this.
I will vote for Trump if he runs, but if he doesn't, I won't be voting at all, and certainly not for anyone the GOPe nominates ever again. I'm done voting for sniveling individuals who happen to have an R behind their name. No more Bushes, no more Romneys, no more McLames. Never again. I may not even be alive in 2024 to be able to vote, so it pisses me off that what may have been my last vote ever in a Presidential election, was cast in an election that was stolen. And on top of it, the Republicans voted to accept those fraudulent electors without question. It doesn't make me want to support any candidate of the GOPe ever again. The RNC will do whatever it has to, to keep Trump off the ballot in 2024. Knowing that, I will never support any other candidate they promote, but Trump.
This IS MAGA, she’s at one with Trump...
And I so admired her until now.
Let them elect a Democrat Speaker of the House. Let them elect Liz Cheney. Let them do this and then let’s see what happens to our representative government. Just bring it out in the open.
Don’t be fooled with the Liz Cheney talk.
What they are saying is “Kevin McCarthy is not as bad as Liz
Cheney as speaker”. Pure self serving b.s.
This Liz Cheney for Speaker is pure b.s. You are being fooled if you believe a bit of it.
If you think America was becoming ungovernable, just you give us Liz Cheney as Speaker of a Republican controlled house. Now, realistically, how long do you think this would last? Guess.
I agree with MTG on this one we have a split party and republicans willing to cross over and vote with the dems to keep power away from populists. its a sad situation but we cannot risk a defection the margin is so thin that it would only take 3 to throw the vote. suggest everyone seriously listen to what she says. I was all for throwing the Bumb out but doing so is a politicly untenable position.
listen to both MTG and Gaetz
