Lindsey Barr is a mother of three children who attend Bryan County Schools in Georgia. For 10 years, Lindsey served as a full-time teacher with Bryan County Schools, where she received excellent reviews, earning a rating of exemplary on almost all performance criteria.

At the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, Lindsey learned of a book that was going to be read to every class as a part of a new read-aloud program at the school’s library. This book was called All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold. The publisher’s website describes the book as, “A bright and uplifting celebration of cultural diversity and belonging, where all children are welcome in the classroom.” Among other things, it includes illustrations of same-sex couples parenting and expecting children.
This book caused Lindsey concern because it contained depictions that conflict with Lindsey’s sincerely held religious views on marriage and family. She believes the book is inappropriate for young children and that it appeared to be part of an effort to indoctrinate young children into a progressive ideology.
In August, Lindsey brought her concerns as a teacher and parent to the school principal and asked that her own children be excused from this reading time. The very next day, Lindsey was unable to access the Bryan County Schools portal she used to accept substitute teaching assignments. Five days later, she was informed by the school that they had terminated her ability to substitute at any Bryan County School.

Leftists and other assorted morons in government will NEVER STOP this sort of crap UNTIL it gets so damnably expensive that THEY decide it's too risky.
All Are Welcome - you’re fired!
Too expensive? It's not like these miscreants pay out of their own pockets!
Indeed, soaking the taxpayers furthers their agenda...
Anytime an organization uses a phrase like “should be celebrating!”, lookout.
All Are Welcome.... except Conservatives.
They blocked outside comments on most of their FB posts but they missed a few.
..and the PURGE continues. Also happening in just about every other institution, including our military.
Sue for civil rights infringement?...
Any lawyers here?
I find the excerpt a bit confusing. It says she taught full time for 10 years but she now seems to be a substitute teacher. If she’s a substitute, I don’t see where she has any recourse to the district’s not letting her sub.
I understand why she objected to the book and why she doesn’t want her kids exposed to it. But she cannot demand the school district to call her up when they need a substitute. It’s not a case of her being fired, she’s just not going to be hired in the future.
As I commented in an earlier thread on this, this is a rural county that went 71% for Trump. Something is rotten in the county school system administration and school board, and people best be paying attention.
At least they didn’t send a SWAT team to her house and arrest her for being a domestic terrorist. Or perhaps that is coming next.
Soaking the taxpayers eventually wakes the taxpayers up to how leftists are exposing them to repeated soakings.
When you awaken to how eating regularly and living with indoor plumbing and heating are important in your life, your pocketbook starts to dominate your politics, and you begin to take an increasingly dim view of so-called “public servants” whose politically-motivated dumb@#$ery makes your life more expensive, and start voting differently.
The way things are going, she’ll be dragged in to be grilled by the Jan 6 Committee.
(sorry for saying the quiet thing out loud)
I swear the left looks for rural counties, moves a few leftists in to take over the school boards and have them hire leftist principals. Over a few years all the conservative teachers are pushed out the door and replaced by the freshly graduated “woke” indoctrinating teachers. It’s important that conservatives take over the school boards and then start taking back the education of the children. Florida conservatives, led by DeSantis made a good start there this year.
You have it backward: Lindsey was HIRED to be on a hot list of Approved substitutes ready at a moment’s notice to accept open needs in District schools; it’s like being on call, you’re retained and available fairly instantly, as no hiring process could hope to fill the kinds of emergent vacancies that arise weekly in classrooms across the District. My own Mother was a Substitute Teacher for many years, so I know this process pretty well.
So, Lindsey was indeed illegally fired — summarily, and without notification — for exercising Constitutionally protected rights. The District is liable to get shish kebabbed for Title VII violations.
Bryan County is down near Savannah, just north of Ft. Stewart, if anyone’s wondering.
May as well call a Spade a Spade!
All are not welcome.
