Tesla head Elon Musk created a furor among many on the left and some of those supportive of Ukraine when he posted a poll with a proposed peace deal between Ukraine and Russia in it.
Ukraine-Russia Peace:
– Redo elections of annexed regions under UN supervision. Russia leaves if that is will of the people.
– Crimea formally part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s mistake).
– Water supply to Crimea assured.
– Ukraine remains neutral.

Musk said he thought that this was likely to be the outcome in the end but that it was “just a question of how many die before then.”
Musk indicated that he was concerned about what would happen to Ukraine if Russia went all-in. “Russia is doing partial mobilization. They go to full war mobilization if Crimea is at risk. Death on both sides will be devastating. Russia has >3 times population of Ukraine, so victory for Ukraine is unlikely in total war. If you care about the people of Ukraine, seek peace.”

Elon, you've done SO MUCH GOOD for Ukraine by enabling Starlink & providing thousands of terminals.As a fellow Aspie I get that you're hyperfocused on this topic right now, but these polls and the tweets about bot attacks aren't helping – in fact, they enrage many Ukrainians.
You are assuming that I wish to be popular. I don’t care.

Now, whatever you think of the poll, he’s been supportive of Ukraine, even providing them with Starlink terminals which have helped them to stay digitally connected with the rest of the world. You can argue about what he says in the poll and the concepts of appeasement, but his support for Ukraine is well known.
But his posting of the poll enraged many Ukraine supporters because it wasn’t just “Russia should get out of Ukraine” as an ultimate solution. He of course was accused of supporting Russia which wasn’t what he was doing.
It stands to reason that the dumbest response would come from Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL). Because apparently, he thinks the only ones entitled to an opinion are people who agree with him. As we noted, he posted a bizarre tweetstorm about pro-lifers and Ukraine. Then he had to delete them because they were embarrassing. He’s posted multiple false things about Ukraine, but sure, let’s just limit all comments to the dumbest comments.

Of course, Musk wasn’t supporting Russia, whatever you think of his proposal. But there’s no nuance or room for discussion with anyone on social media anymore. Or appreciation for the fact that he has helped Ukraine in the past, which some noted in response.

Good plan. Crimea must stay with mother Russia.

Nobody is going to allow a free vote because all of Ukraine minus Galicia and Kiev are going to vote to join Russia. Kick Galician carpetbaggers out of Kiev and it is going to follow.

I understand Zelensky’s passion. He is Ukrainian and a war president.
What I don’t understand is the enthusiasm of American pols for this war.
Zelensky is reported to have been willing to enter into peace talks last spring, but he was ordered not to by the Biden administration. As Tucker said tonight, Zelensky is not an independent agent, he’s at the mercy of the people in Dc. And they appear to want war. Just like previous Dem presidents who have maneuvered us into war.

I was raised by a guy on the nuclear force and I learned more unclass stuff about nuclear warfighting than most would care to know, both from what he was allowed to tell me, and open source books he gave me to read in answer to my questions about his job.
I’ve looked at the best numbers and info I can get on the Russian nuclear force, and I have reason to hope that much of their deterrent is inoperative and will likely malfunction rather than detonate on target. But that’s whistling past the graveyard. I do NOT wish to find out in practice if I’m correct. Even in my most optimistic outlook, nuclear weapons would be used in combat and the death toll would be horrific. Let’s just not go there, shall we?

Zelensky’s passion is for the billions of dollars that flow in every month as long as he is at war with Russia.
The enthusiasm of Americans (some of them) is because Ukraine is the “homeland” for their money laundering, bio labs, and various criminal operations. They know that Russia knows full well what they’ve been up to and going to war with Russia will keep the focus where they want it, and keep the money flowing.
To see a peace settlement would only serve the serfs.
