I went to my nearest Cabela's this week to do a little shopping. When I entered the store I noticed a sign at the service counter that essentially said guns entering the store must be registered at the counter. I asked if that was all guns and was told yes. I took out my conceal carry and put it on the country. Thee attendant asked me if the gun had bullets in it (DUH!). I said yes. He then told me I had to take the gun to the gun sales and have them unload it and then bring it back up to register it. I then told him I would just take it back out to my car and leave it. Probably last shopping trip to Cabela's.
Ranting dude lost it.
“I would definitely ignore their sign, if I didn’t just leave”
Best thing would ignore his rant.
I hope you’ve been educated by now that it’s for when you bring guns in to sell, trade or get worked on. Sheesh.
“What about people licensed to carry concealed?”
Stop spreading fake news
IN-STORE FIREARMS POLICY
For the safety of our patrons and staff, all un-holstered firearms entering Sportsman’s Warehouse must be cased, unloaded, and presented to Customer Service at the front of the store. If you plan on removing your firearm in the store, it must also be cased, unloaded, and presented to Customer Service at the front of the store. Thank you for your cooperation and patronage.
Where allowed by law, we do permit open and concealed carry of sidearms, provided the sidearms remain holstered.
Did you take the email to store management?
Did you ever talk to store management?
If not, why not?
It was store management who told me what they did in post #60.
Being in Denver, there are actually a lot of people here who have a personal aversion about people carrying guns. I wasn’t going to push the issue.
Maybe you should send that message to all the Cabela’s employees so they know what the policy is. Also in today’s woke US if you carry a weapon into a business that posts “No Firearms’ Allowed” and use it to stop a bad guy from committing a crime you could end up getting sued or even arrested and charged so every one needs to do what they think is their right and face the consequences of their actions.
So we have a national chain grocery close to us that has a small sign on their front doors that says unlicensed carrying of a firearm can be subject to a $10,000 fine. There is also a legal 30.06 sign posted on their large inside the atrium windows. So what to do, what to do?
As another poster noted. CCW is fine. You presented, so now you need to follow procedures. BTW, which one did you go to? The one in Hamburg, Pa. is awesome. It’s the only big store I go to besides hardware stores.
” There is also a legal 30.06 sign posted on their large inside the atrium windows. So what to do, what to do?”
Texas? Legal CC? Law is clear. Well, sort of clear.
“Pursuant to Section 30.06, Penal Code (trespass by license holder with a concealed handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code (handgun licensing law), may not enter this property with a concealed handgun”
