Right. For the Iraq War, it meant peace time was officially over. My kids were little ones, the youngest was a month old. I feared for the world I would be raising them in. Yes, there were still wars going on around the world, but this was a big thing at the time. That bothered me. Still does, I guess.

We are planning to finally have my brother’s memorial service the following weekend. He passed from CoVid a year ago, and many in my family were too scared for us to be together back then. I hope that whatever this event is, we can still carry on paying attention to honoring him instead of whatever the supposed event is.
