That’s what I meant about the Iraq War. It’s not really a flashbulbfor most people. Just for me.

Frankly I don’t really get the JFK thing. I mean, it was a horrible thing, but I think it’s more the shock of seeing a president live get shot like that.

But yes, since the advent of timely news, it seems only the 3 incidents count as flashbulb for Americans at least. The others are more personal for us it seems.

For the old-timers who were around the JFK assassination was quite a shock.

You need to remember that he was treated like a deity by the mass media of the time.

Right. For the Iraq War, it meant peace time was officially over. My kids were little ones, the youngest was a month old. I feared for the world I would be raising them in. Yes, there were still wars going on around the world, but this was a big thing at the time. That bothered me. Still does, I guess.
