It seems the DOJ has decided to leak an explanation of their decision to use a search warrant in this case. Newsweek just published an exclusive report based on anonymous DOJ sources which claims the FBI had a confidential source at Mar-a-Lago, one who informed them that Trump was hiding documents and even specified where they could be found.
The raid on Mar-a-Lago was based largely on information from an FBI confidential human source, one who was able to identify what classified documents former President Trump was still hiding and even the location of those documents, two senior government officials told Newsweek.
Before we go any further, remember that the FBI apparently brought along a safe-cracker who opened Trump’s safe. Presumably that suggests they were told by their confidential source that there were documents hidden in the safe. But by all accounts there was nothing in the safe and the FBI didn’t take anything from it. Does that mean the confidential source got it wrong?

ORGANIZATION, MISSION & FUNCTIONS MANUAL: ATTORNEY GENERAL, DEPUTY AND ASSOCIATE
Attorney General | Deputy Attorney General | Associate Attorney General
OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL
The position of Attorney General was created by the Judiciary Act of 1789 as a one-person, part-time position. However, the workload quickly became too much for one person. For a time, private attorneys were retained to assist the Attorney General. In June 1870, Congress enacted a law entitled “An Act to Establish the Department of Justice,” with the Attorney General as head of the new executive department. This Act gave the Attorney General direction and control of U.S. Attorneys and all other counsel employed on behalf of the United States.
The mission of the Office of the Attorney General is to supervise and direct the administration and operation of the 40 components comprising the Department of Justice.
The principal duties of the Attorney General are to:
Represent the United States in legal matters.
Supervise and direct the administration and operation of the offices, boards, divisions, and bureaus that comprise the Department.
Furnish advice and opinions, formal and informal, on legal matters to the President and the Cabinet and to the heads of the executive departments and agencies of the government, as provided by law.
Make recommendations to the President concerning appointments to federal judicial positions and to positions within the Department, including U.S. Attorneys and U.S. Marshals.
Represent or supervise the representation of the United States Government in the Supreme Court of the United States and all other courts, foreign and domestic, in which the United States is a party or has an interest as may be deemed appropriate.
Perform or supervise the performance of other duties required by statute or Executive Order............
AG Garland didn’t approve it
Horse hockey, slingin’ it deep now.
“The source says Wray approved it.”
Wray was highly recommended to President Trump by Chris Christie. Christie lobbied hard for Wray’s appointment. Like Pence, Christie early on in the Primary appeared to suddenly become very pro-Trump.
I believed then and believe more and more that their pro-Trump positions were ruses to infiltrate the Trump campaign for The Deep State in the event Trump would win the primary and perhaps win the presidency.
When he won The Deep State went into full panic mode and have attempted to frame the man 24/7/365.
The fact that they have failed to find an iota of dirt on this man makes him the Cleanest man on earth since Noah.
Projection: you accuse your victim of doing what you are doing.
The FBI is hiding documents and evidence from “We The People”
I’ve been saying for a long time, the democrats and their ilk are not smart enough for long term planning.
one of the few things I agree with Michael Savage on, is Liberalism is a mental disorder.
What if it was a sting?
Garland didn’t know about it? BS.
I haven’t heard the “ Trump is playing 3D chess“ trope for a while. He had to know that something was in the works.
If he didn’t approve it, why has he not fired the person who did?
If that person isn’t going to be fired, then he approved it.
It is pretty simple
Perhaps they were told that PDJT kept a certain long form birth certificate, some Ukrainian bank records, and the Rose Law Firm billing records in his safe. In reality, it was just a bag of dog feces with a note saying “Suckers!” taped to it.
“They” all wanted it to happen so no one will get fired.
” Question is, will they ever be called to account?”
Of course not. They be untouchable, like PIAPS.
It is not far fetched that no one in the upper echelon know about the FBI ransacking of Mar-a-Lago. The DC self governing machine is on display, warts and all. The “machine” must be tamed.
Obama via Eric Holder. They're still running the show.
Oh they didn’t take anything? What did they plant?
I would think very few people would be close enough to know if papers were put in the safe.
I would think the informant had to be pretty close to Trump for the FBI to buy the story and then do something so drastic.
Or this is purely political and they’re making up this ‘informant’ story.
It seems Trump could whittle that down pdq.
I don't believe that.
If Garland wants to make that claim himself he will have to own up to gross incompetence.
OTOH if he took credit for approving it he'd have to own up to gross incompetence.
I want Wray’s head on a platter with a GD apple in his mouth.
No later than January 2025,but hopefully much...much...earlier.
Beside the point...
Normally these people would be elbowing each other to get to the TV cameras to brag and take credit. Just how big a cluster eff it was is clear by how fast they are running away from it and who they are trying to protect.
