I have waited "patiently" to be able to get on Truth Social with my PC, but I have run into a problem. In trying to sign up, they require an email address with a return email from the one they send --- done, but then also a phone number where you return a code from their text. All stop.
I don't have, and don't want, a smart phone. So, I can't receive or send text messages. So, I can't sign up for Truth Social as it is currently configured. I can not find a work-around anywhere. Some other places will call the phone number and give the code verbally to be returned by email, but I don't find this on Truth anywhere, yet.
I sent an email to support@Truth explaining my dilemma, but so far no response.
Any ideas? Wait longer? Anyone here from Truth that can help???
Get a modern phone that supports text or email.
Multifactor Authentication
It’s the future of passwords.
My wife uses Google voice to circumvent her cell number getting out, so I’m familiar with some of the features.
She has texted using the service, so perhaps it might serve as a substitute for buying a phone you neither need nor want.
Check this:
I tried to sign up last nite for the first time. Completed a couple of preliminary questions including email address. It told me a confirmation email has been sent and to ‘click’ on the link. Never did receive the confirmation email. I tried twice.
I use gab. It’s better anyways.
Does your wife have a smart phone? If so, you can use that. It’s just a onetime thing, or if you need to rest password etc.
You can text with a flip phone - no smart phone needed.
You can also text from a landline or VoiP using a text msg service and/or an app on your home computer.
Buy an anonymous burner flip phone at Walmart or Target for a couple of bucks.
Buy a Verizon phone card for a couple of bucks at the same time.
Pay cash.
Activate the phone.
Call me cynical, but I feel that the Big Box stores are now using facial recognition.
So, wear a hat, sunglasses and a mask that covers your ears when purchasing.
Use this “ghost phone” to receive texts.
It is a very handy thing to use for websites that require your phone number, leaving your primary phone free from online tracking
PS—I have had the same frustrations with Truth and have been unable to activate a functional account.....”Come on, Devin Nunes!...As CEO of Truth Social, please fix the bugs”
Sounds to me like you are SOL.
IF you can’t get in through with those links, I’d be glad to help you out. I can tell them that emails aren’t being sent to new people who are signing up. Just let me know how I can help you.
Perhaps you have some friends who have a phone which can receive a text. invite to come by and help you validate your account.
I’m smiling at your question. But no, I don’t have a husband -— so I can’t borrow his phone.
But I didn’t think about borrowing my daughter’s phone. Thanks!!!
Stop being by a luddite
Burner flip phones can receive texts
Why so mean, bigbob? If you really were a Big Bob, your name would not be self-ascribed, lower case......so, “not” bigbob.....instead “little bob”....I think you owe our poster an apology for being unnecessarily mean for no reason....do you even know what a “luddite” is?....I am guessing that you think Luddites were one of the 12 Tribes of Israel. Prove me wrong. (shhh, don’t tell him the answer)
Biased against land lines.
I also have a Google Voice number that I use for certain things. For sure you can send/receive texts there.
