This certainly puts Katie Hobbs, who is the current Secretary of State who oversaw the 2020 steal and the presumptive Democrat nominee for governor who in in all probability will be running against Kari Lake, on the hot seat.

The machines aren’t going away. We rely on stuff like this for every day life.

Someone with money like Musk needs to start an election machine company. Use Open Source code and standard, well tested components. Bring in some people from the ATM machine industry. Those things seem pretty reliable and cheat proof.

...prohibit the use of electronic voting machines...

And double scrutinize mail-ins without delaying for any water main breaks? Could work.

How did we count votes for the first 200 years of our country's existence, before there were computers?

Somehow, we always still knew who the new president was the day after.

There ya go...These machines are not needed as they are a source of manipulation by those with bad intentions.

I liked the old mechanical machines where you had to move mechanical lever by the name of each person you were voting for. It's a lot harder to queer those machines than an electronic one.

G1. The smartmatic owner is from Venezuela. The machines were rigged in the Venezuela election. Who in the USA approved this trash?

The ATM manufacturers made election machines. The Left freaked out and got rid of them. Remember all the lefties screaming about the Diebold election machines?

Someday in the future...

It would be interesting to see a list of the states with the most secure voting systems. I’m pretty sure the Democrat controlled states would be at the bottom of the list.

The memes would haunt the Democrats for decades.

Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and Discover, process probably 100,000,000 transactions a day, instantaneously, without mistakes. Think of the lawsuits if it took Citi-Bank two weeks to process the charge for the groceries you bought?

Hand-counted ballots, appear to me to be the most susceptible to fraud. I hate to say this, but we need a national voter ID with a photo like the newer forgery-proof driving licenses.

Use one of those systems for voting, It would work like a self checkout line at a grocery store.

Present the ID.
Check the address
Put the ID in the machine like using a credit card.
Cast your vote.

Then a copy of the vote is loaded into a database from a third party, along with the last 4 digits of the voter ID.

When the election ends, press a switch, tally the votes. Then do the same with the third party, Those figures should match exactly.

No more waiting for weeks

Actually, those turned out to be stupidly easy to screw with. The below report is what started people thinking about getting rid of them.

Same guy, later article: https://www.knoxnews.com/story/opinion/columnists/jack-mcelroy/2018/05/27/opinion-rigged-voting-machine-and-really-easy-jack-mcelroy/633876002/

Later on someone figured out how to rig them *without* the 'secure' keys. That incident is why those all went away so quickly.
