LifeSite has published several articles and interviews referring to “mass formation” psychology facilitating the mindless acceptance of deadly COVID propaganda. This article and video provide perhaps the best and most practically useful summary of the phenomenon that we have seen to date. There is a great need for the informed to push back against this phenomenon and end its influence. The following paragraph is perhaps the most significant:
“The glimmer of hope is this: Everyone who has studied mass formation and totalitarianism has concluded that both are intrinsically self-destructive. They cannot survive. *Under mass formation, a population enters a hypnotic-type trance that makes them willing to sacrifice anything, including their lives and their freedom.
*Key strategies to disrupt the mass formation process are to speak out against it and to practice non-violent resistance. Dissenting voices keep totalitarian systems from deteriorating into abject inhumanity where people are willing to commit heinous atrocities.
*Ultimately, “totalitarianism” refers to the ambition of the system. It wants to eliminate the ability of individual choice, and in so doing, it destroys the core of what it is to be human. The quicker a system destroys the individual, the sooner the system collapses.

Sadly, you’re right. Too many FReepers fell for it and the alleged “cure”.
When this insanity started, some of my very conservative, logical, and intelligent friends quickly went into the mode of lockdown, masks, hyper-sanitization, social distancing, clot shots, etc.
Freaked me out. I couldn’t understand why they did it. I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t scared; I was supposed to be, right?
Now one of the fully vaccinated friends is in her 8th day at a Tennova hospital with a s-htload of respiratory issues and I’m wondering if she’ll ever get out. Another friend is on oxygen permanently. Another couple is experiencing odd physical issues with balance, vertigo, bleeding.
They fell for it SO quickly it felt netherworldly. (It was.)

My husband has Covid- he caved and got one JJ jab due to work mandate. I literally forbid him from any boosters. He has diabetes and blood sugar high and ketones in urine- we’ve tried for 3 days to find dr to give him sliding scale insulin- his own providers, online telemed and urgent cares and NO ONE will do the right thing! All brainwashed!! The Ahole telemed consult even told him to stop his ivermectin “it doesn’t work “. Well, guess what? Ivermectin and rigorous supplements and fever and sugars are now trending down. Praise the Lord
Similarly, doctors and medical "experts" who foster the evil lie that the marginally effective, potentially dangerous therapeutics deliberately mischaracterized as "vaccines" will "protect" you from catching, spreading and become sick from the Fauci Flu are just vile people ... people who have truly lost their credibility to provide medical advice. People who follow -- and demand that others follow -- these fantasies -- these delusions of safety -- are just fooling themselves. Not a good thing to do!
Friend has had gastrointestinal issues since 2 Pfizer shots- she thinks her GI dr will help her when she tells- wanna bet he looks at her like she’s crazy and writes her a script for something useless? Waiting to see it play out- she’s coming around to alternative measures to mitigate the symptoms- so maybe after she sees dr reaction she will be ready

I live in a blue metro area in flyover country. My take is there was genuine fear in people during the early stages of the pandemic because of lack of information. I'd get dirty looks from people at the grocery store because I didn't have a mask on between the car and the entrance/exit. There are still plenty of maskers around but I don't see the fear in their eyes..
The tricky part per this and similar analyses is that the spell is only broken by pointedly pointing out to them that they are wrong, but the more you do that the more firmly they classify you as in the “need to eliminate” category.
A bit like sharpening a butter knife for alligator hunting.
