Despite what Biden and his muppets say, there is a good chance that the US will slip into recession over the next 24 months. And with that, we are seeing a slight drop in US mortgage rates.
Inflation is surging, and The Fed seems intent on “inflation fighting” but may have to pause that fight the impending recession. This is called a “U-turn” although Powell didn’t mention that is his testimony yesterday.
According to Mortgage News Daily, the 30-year fixed dropped below 6% to 5.88%.
Europe is signaling their u-turn to recession fighting as 10-year sovereign yield have dropped over 10 basis points this morning. Australia and New Zealand are dropping hard as well.

inflation is 10 times worse than a recession. If the fed stops inflation will continue to rise and rise.
The fed has no choice, but to keep raising rates to strangle inflation no matter the cost.
I think a balanced budget amendment would be much more effective, with fewer negative side effects. But the Fed can’t implement that, and this Congress won’t.
Oil is the biggest component of inflation right now. In the last 2 weeks WTI crude has gone fron 123 to 106. Yesterday it was done 4%.
I have predicted the Fed will cave after two rate hikes and have to start lowering.
Yeah, I thing you are right. You don’t necessarily need an amendment, but you do need a broad long term agreement from both parties to reign in spending slowly over something like a generation. We don’t have that kind of a Congress, but I do think we a coming to something like an inflection point. This crop of 80 somethings like Biden and Feinstein with be gone in a few years. And, I thing woke is starting to burn itself out.
