After it was revealed on Thursday that not only did police delay their response to sending tactical teams into the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Tex. amid a school shooting that left 19 children and two teachers dead but prevented parents from entering, the Wall Street Journal reported that one mother sprinted into the school to get her children, over objections from law enforcement.
Angeli Rose Gomez drove 40 miles to the school upon hearing of the shooting, and she arrived, said "The police were doing nothing. They were just standing outside the fence. They weren't going in there or running anywhere."

Most of the plates are ceramic, but I have recently moved to flexible armor. Its about half the weight, but its more expensive.
True, a know more than one LEO that pretty much uses their own rifle because the department doesn’t issue.
True but there's video of LEOs with ARs or similar dangling on a strap as they cock block parents. Many had vests and a few had helmets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyXtymq-A6w
I was getting my info from the daily mail. They called it his pickup truck.
supposedly 1 weapon alone was 2k with tax. Figure the other for the same 2k plus 150 or so for the ammo.
And many of these same police officers will try to confiscate your firearms without a second thought if they are ordered to do it.
Wow. On the one hand, I can understand the police from wanting to allow her to become another shooting victim, however, this is just bad.
The question I would like answered is if the police were doing nothing, is that because the shooter was no longer firing his weapon and they though this had become a hostage situation? Or had they thought he had committed suicide but wanted to wait for certain, because the rushed in, potentially provoking additional firing at students still inside the building?
There are a lot of questions that need to be answered on this horrible situation.
I am now of the opinion that, as a concealed handgun licensee, should I EVER find myself in a situation where a LEO is in need of help, I will call 9-11 and exit the area.

With liability issues today, using a private firearm at work could break the bank in many venues due to possible malfunctions, ammunition that goes through 5 walls etc. There are quite a few departments out there how prohibit using privately owned firearms/ammunition.
Too bad the on scene LEO was not as intellectually curious as you are.
Something seriously wrong here! LEOs in my Family have run in to burning buildings to save children. It’s what you sign on for.
This whole scenario has a rotten smell.

So then it was the federal marshals were where commanding the stand down?
US Marshalls were there
I watched the tape last nite
Out for the count is right. In some cases I’ve heard it’s like getting kicked by a mule.
I dont know about that. I just know LEOs get special privileges when buying in many states and are able to get pretty much customize what they want. Maybe the department reimburses them, but the states I am thinking of they get to keep their class III items even after they are off the force. So I doubt those are paid for by the department. Actually many I know have to pay for their own uniforms as well. They get a salary but the rest is up to them.
Where do you buy your flex armor, Magnum44?
I’ve never bought any body armor.
Considering this 18 year old was able to hit a BORTAC agent in the head and leg befor the Agent was able to return fire and kill the suspect, I’ll reserve judgment until more solid information comes out.
Keystone cops, one and all.
