Confusingly, in Oz land, Labour is the party of the Left, while the party of the Right is the Liberals. In essence, the conservative party is now out and the Lefties are now in power.
The so-called “conservatives” lost because of the borderline Nazi tactics they used during COVID that alienated voters. Unfortunately voting in the radical Environut Labour party instead is likely just trading one devil for another.

Talk about a total fall from power...Heritage Foundation wrote about the conservative party’s shock win a couple years ago....and what a great promise it showed....
but what a disaster it turned out to be because the government fell prey to fear mongering.

However, another reason why Australians can know the results of an election the same night is because their ballots aren't 4 pages long, filled with federal, state, and local races, millage proposals, and ballot initiatives. In a federal election, you only vote for representatives and senators, nothing else.
