Did you know the public is too stupid to care about such a report, and the media will gladly “debunk” the report as pure fantasy?

And that is the world we live in.

So how many pandemic tabletop exercises have been performed in total. The excerpt mentions 4, but is that all of them?

And how many have come true? And I’m not sure we should count Monkeypox as a pandemic yet. It has spread to multiple countries, but doesn’t seem that transmissible. It’s only up to 20 cases in the UK, where this breakout was first identified.

Pandemic; a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease over a whole country or the world at a particular time:

Before Covid, the WHO had very specific criteria for defining a pandemic. I think the CDC also has criteria.
But I’m not looking that up right now.

This tabletop exercise can be added to a long list of other pandemic table top exercises.

Event 201 comes to mind.

My second choice was monkeypox.

Well since routine vaccination against Smallpox was stopped worldwide in the 1970’s, it was pretty much inevitable that some orthopox virus would eventually become a threat. Smallpox vaccines are very effective at preventing Monkeypox. People living in areas where Monkeypox is endemic should be vaccinated and so should people who travel to those areas.

We should using the safer Bavarian Nordic Smallpox vaccine for protection against Monkeypox! It was developed in the 1960’s in Turkey by German scientists. It contains the Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) virus which is incapable of replicating in human cells. It was originally intended as a pre-vaccine to prevent serious reactions to the live Vaccinia vaccines. By the time it became available, Smallpox was on its way to being eradicated. It never got tested as a Smallpox vaccine anywhere where Smallpox was circulating. After the Anthrax attacks in the US a few weeks after the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks, it was tested against Smallpox in animals at the CDC level 4 labs in Atlanta. Later the German government built stockpiles of it to use as their military Smallpox vaccine. It could be potentially be used in other countries for immune compromised people who can’t tolerate the standard Smallpox vaccines.
