So how many pandemic tabletop exercises have been performed in total. The excerpt mentions 4, but is that all of them?

And how many have come true? And I’m not sure we should count Monkeypox as a pandemic yet. It has spread to multiple countries, but doesn’t seem that transmissible. It’s only up to 20 cases in the UK, where this breakout was first identified.

Pandemic; a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease over a whole country or the world at a particular time:

Before Covid, the WHO had very specific criteria for defining a pandemic. I think the CDC also has criteria.
But I’m not looking that up right now.

Our hospital had tabletops every six months. We would rotate through the standard plans: Natural disaster, Airplane crash, Terrorism, and generic insane clown poses mass shootings.

Pandemic was always on the list. But they never got around to it during my tenure. I knew the plan hadn’t been looked at or revised in a decade in 2019 when I left.

Those of us old timers had a few dark chuckles about them looking for the binder in early 2020.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a real pandemic or not.

They’ll hype it into one.
