True. And I saw a story today (if true) of a Russian soldier telling his commanding officer that he refused to deploy. Back in the old days he would have been vaporized on the spot unless they kept him alive to make him suffer.
Lots of difference making the world very unpredictable these days.
I'm favoring US trade paperbacks these days for my fiction.

I think that is an apt description.
The term I often use to describe Russians is that they are fatalists.

In the last 10 days the Ukriane claimed responsibility, but Russia clearly was the nation who cut off Germany, and now Finland. The information war has been BS.

Pidor Putin was counting on foreign energy revenues to fund the war of conquest and not only did those revenue streams dry up the West effectively seized or rendered inaccessible some $1.5 trillion in foreign accounts and foreign assets.
The West will adapt and overcome the energy issue.
How will Pidor Putin overcome the funding issue? By printing more rubles that are going to float on the international market as of June 6th?
By the end of June Putin may not have solved Russia’s funding problem but the CBRF will have solved Russia’s toilet paper supply issues.
Be careful though, the green ink on the ruble is copper based and it can cause your anus to chafe and peel.

I know what they are. I have a bunch on carpentry, timber framing, woodworking, and carving. I’ve done wood work for years, and at one time I did renovations and restorations (until I got married, then I had to get a real job with benefits). I have a bunch on drawing, as well (I’ve been drawing since I was a kid; primarily graphite and charcoal; I sometimes exhibit at a local art league, and have sold a few pieces).
But, as for books, I subscribe to the adage: “So many books; so little time.”

It’s all good until October 1 when the country turns the heating units back on.

Last time I checked a year ago a wholesale price of electricity in Sweden was 0,21 Euro vs 0,02 Euro from Russia.
I guess the difference is even more staggering now.
In Baltic states they pulled this trick with the Russian electricity by dropping the IPS/UPS grid. The consequences are utility bills in Latvia approaching 40% of the average household income.
