With US markets still in turmoil during Monday’s thin-liquidity sessions, more troubling COVID headlines added to the general downcast mood when NYC raised its alert level from “low” to “medium”.
The shift comes as the number of new cases per 100K people over the past week has surpassed 200. The latest number of 209.02 cases per 100,000 is the highest since early February.
Patients hospitalized with the virus also have increased over the last month, but still remain below 500. During the omicron-induced surge around the holidays, hospitalizations in the city peaked above 6,500 in January, per NY State data.
Although masks aren’t required, the new alert level suggests that New Yorkers should wear a face mask in indoor settings while in public.
Among the five boroughs, Manhattan has the highest transmission levels, although it has seen numbers trend lower since mid-April, according to data from the city. All other boroughs have seen levels rise over the last couple weeks, prompting the change in the city’s alert level.
Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine tweeted that the rising alert level reflects the growing proliferation of COVID sub-variants in the city.

NY was actually using one until recently and my wife had the app when we needed to show proof - “problem” was they only allowed you to download proof of vax if you were vaxxed in NY (she was - I was vaxxed in NJ and Florida so had to carry around a worn card).
Scary.

So large groups of people were not forced to get the shot? Is that your reality? If so, you need to open your eyes.
The group of people who chose to get vaxxed at Maximum rate are SENIORS. They are mostly all retired folks, needing no fear of losing jobs. When I am at Publix store, I observe mostly a line of seniors waiting for another jab. They don’t look like they have a job.
I was anti-vaxx before most here even heard of the term.
Nobody here convinced me of anything.

Why are you against principles of CAPITALISM?
In capitalism system, every business should be free to make their own decisions. If they make stupid decisions, they are going to go bankrupt. As owner of business, I should be free to set dress code, facial hair code, required vaccinations, and anything else I feel is best for my business.
However I am AGAINST government mandating anything related to health issues, especially health insurance standards and vaccinations. Because governments never go broke.

I have no idea what you are talking about and nor did have I stated I was against the principals of Capitalism. How am I against Capitalism if I am against the Government, by fiat, forcing companies with 100 or more or with government contracts to have their employees vaccinated with an emergency vaccine to keep their jobs? Or even worse, to prove their deeply held religious beliefs are sincere? This doesn't sound like Capitalism to me, sounds like Fascism.
I also own a business and I can also set rules for employees, no one ever said you or I or anyone else could. You are setting up a bunch of strawman arguments.
