Only because we have some utterly weak and incompetent Republican Governors, Republican legislatures and some really dumb voters that think people like Graham, the Scott’s, etc etc etc will do something to help.

I am at age 82, had 4 jabs so far, and not even a sneeze from the vaccine, 15 months after the 1st jab.
You mis-understand career politicians. They are not there to help ordinary working middle class. They are there to enrich themselves first. And they are in pockets of the very rich class because of campaign cash.
We are in our 70s, no jabs, zero. Tested for covid jut to make sure. Zero covid, too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On the other hand all of my friends and family who got the jab did get covid. Some got very ill and had to have the monochromal antibodies to stay alive.
I’m 72, and had two Pfizer shots — 3/6/21 & 3/27/21 — plus a seasonal Flu Shot on 8/28/21, and then the Pfizer ‘booster’ on 11/2/21. No problems so far, but I won’t get anymore of them.
Some historians believe that the Soviets and Maoists actually believed in Communism and were actively trying to get their people prepared, but had to resort to brutal measures in their attempts, i.e. the end justifies the mean.
Other historians believe that the Soviets and Maoists were just opportunists who used the idea of a communist utopia as a carrot to keep the people from revolting.
Regardless, what ended up being created was not a communist utopia, but instead a totalitarian dictatorship.
What Biden, et al are creating is not communism but a totalitarian dictatorship. They may actually believe they are doing this for our own good, or they may just be cynical opportunists who are using fear of disease as a weapon to keep the majority of the population from revolting.
Bandying about the term "communism" is preaching to an ever-shrinking choir. Better to call it what it is...

This isn’t a democrat problem, it’s a DC problem. As someone else here stated, we are a national socialist nation with two parties. One more socialist, one more nationalist, but both agree on the basics of national socialism.

There are about 29,000 others who would disagree with you, but they're dead now. I'm 73 and had the first two clot shots and the first booster. No adverse symptoms for me either, but it's clear not everyone is so lucky. I haven't had COVID either, but I had similar outcomes with regular flu vaccines. Got the shot, didn't get the flu, Didn't get the shot, got the flu, Didn't get the shot, didn't get the flu, Got the shot and got the flu. So it's all a crap shoot with any vaccine as far as I'm concerned.

Good for you. I’m 85, very healthy, my MD said I didn’t need shot.
Then, I had one jab when Pfizer was FDA approved. No side effects, not even red or swollen at injection site. Then a week later some Pfizer bigwig was appointed to FDA board. Didn’t pass the smell test, bought a book on AMZ about the FDA. They’re all pharmaceutical company guys. Nasty!!!
My daughter works at home, no shot, but they went to Hawaii for their anniversary and she got that one-shot JJ vax in order to avoid quarantine. She was fine for awhile, but when Omicron came along, her husband caught it, had minor cold symptoms for 3 days, passed it on to Katy and she was extremely ill for a week.
