-The new law Office of Election Crimes and Security under the Florida Department of State
-Makes ballot harvesting a third-degree felony
-'I don't think there's any place in the country where you should have more confidence that your vote counts than in the State of Florida,' said DeSantis
-He signed the bill into state law at a sports bar in Tampa Bay
-Came after candidates clashed in Georgia Senate primary with former Sen. David Perdue claiming: 'The election in 2020 was rigged and stolen'
-Trump lost Georgia by 12,000 votes

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill Monday to create a police force dedicated to pursuing voter fraud and other election crimes, embracing a top priority of Republicans after former President Donald Trump's false claims that his reelection was stolen.

'I don't think there's any place in the country where you should have more confidence that your vote counts than in the State of Florida,' said DeSantis, who is consider a potential 2024 GOP presidential candidate.

The new law comes after the Republican governor made voting legislation a focus this year, pushing the Republican-controlled statehouse to create the policing unit as states reevaluate their own election systems in the wake of Trump's unfounded allegations.

“Critics have deemed the law politically motivated and unnecessary, arguing that local prosecutors can handle election crimes”

Who exactly???

Why does DeSantis always have to be the first GOP governor to everything correctly? Don’t other GOP politicians realize why he is so popular? All you have to do is imitate him.

The AP is garbage.

I can tell you the local Miami media has not covered this story. Miami media RARELY covers DeSantis action UNLESS the media’s friends in the Democrat party are screaming and crying “racism” or “homophobia”!

~~~
I was gonna say, can he send them to Atlanta?
Then again, this is a good move. If I remember right, it was Florida and Texas that had a places with harvesting and fraud in them before it became ‘a thing’ in national conscious. Who was that Broward County elections official who basically flaunted her corruption many years back?
You can be sure that anything that protects voter integrity, investigates fraud, and prevents fraud will be opposed by the Democrats. For obvious reasons!
Good! I think we need something like this in every state. Clearly laws were broken and nobody did anything in the last election. Most wouldn’t even investigate.
Who will this “police force” consist of?
Who will be in charge of it?
Which government employee “union” will represent it?
Just askin’
We need it in every state, but we will never get it in the states controlled by the Dems.
In fact, we don’t want it in states controlled by the Dems because they will use them as their own private Gestapo.
What happens in the future when the Dems take control of Florida?
"What happens in the future when the Dems take control of Florida?"
Hopefully, the police would be institutionalized and procedures set, so that any attempt to politicize the police force would set off alarm bells and officers would go public.
Same is true of traditional police forces and the FBI, CIA, etc.
You have to live with some risk.
