Several 'chatter' threads on various boards about this tonight.
Summary:
1. Volunteers travel to Ukraine at their own expense to fight against Russia.
2. Guy shares picture showing he's at the Yavoriv International Center for Peacekeeping and Security with a bunch of other foreign nationals to enlist and train.
3. A friend of his decides to post the picture on Reddit for 'upvotes'....
4. Russians see the location and send in a cruise missile.
5. Barracks of 35 Ukrainian soldiers destroyed. Many killed.
6. Foreign nationals try to go back to Poland.
Guys that went there got all caught up in the Zelensky hype plastered daily - without even thinking they went there. Just the language problem would be sufficient for bad directions - limited armament - guns against missiles!
I saw plenty of chinese taking pics when the first of our F-35a’s landed at the airbase near me 2018. Always back of my mind what they up to. The security parameter has been upgraded but still looks a tad lame compared to what U.S bases must be like
Tik Tok. A conduit straight to commie China. If the West does fall, circuses will be partly responsible
Spanish Civil war..
Never went there and don’t post anywhere but primarily here or in a chat room that might look interesting for conversation on the war. But I was amazed young people think that’s entertaining.
Basically doing what I did as a kid....watching TV all day or listening to the radio. There were kids in the 50’s or 60’s who would jump off their house roof to see if they could fly like Superman. Nowadays there are more people, more outside influence so more stupid events occur and they are reported immediately. They will learn, and/or burn. Sad,but true.
Tik Tok vs Tolstoy. Hmm
Good points. Social media certainly widened the opportunities for displays of youthful exuberance and alas, folly
Trying to out do one another in these selfie videos is just a receipe for accidents. that apparently happen with frequency.
Very interesting observation, analysis, and real world viewpoint.
The globohomo supporters thought it was just a video game and something to brag about on social media for “likes” and virtue signaling.
ha! Too true!
The russians are known to using information posted on the internet to plan their opts. I trust this is a true story.
Agree. I recall seeing pics of the Michigan guard there not long ago. In the image, Three of our soldiers were playing guitar in their down time. When I heard about the blast, that’s what came to mind.
“These guys thought it was like Call of Duty where you ‘respawn’ after dying? “
Funniest thing that I ever saw. The Donald, which was kicked off of Reddit because they supported the President, which was not permitted there, was having a FIELD DAY on this.
Too funny: A couple of notes:
1. “Tons of British there.” Heard that the British equivalent of Blackwater is being paid to operate in Ukraine.
2. “10 rounds of ammo.” Well, the Left tells us that’s sufficient for mags, so why’s he complaining?
People who volunteer to go to war for another country are self-selected for poor judgement.
OTOH, they accomplished a valid military objective — they caused Putin to expend 35 hard to replace precision missiles.
“Going to a foreign country to volunteer in a live shooting conflict has a lot of downsides. Not the least of which is poor impulse control in the ‘volunteers’. Not good for opsec.”
Another downside is that if you’re willing to be under the command of your host country, guess who becomes the cannon fodder.
Social media kills...again. Oh well.
Isn't that exactly what Google does? Earth/Streetview.
