As Google prepares to bring most employees back to the office, the company is facing a workforce that’s increasingly unhappy when it comes to key issues such as compensation and an ability to meet career goals.
Google’s annual employee surveys, internally called “Googlegeist,” show that a growing number of staffers don’t view their pay packages as fair or competitive with what they could make in a similar role elsewhere. They are also questioning their employer’s ability to execute.
The surveys were taken in January and released to employees last week. CNBC viewed results from the company overall as well as individual groups such as cloud, search and ads. The lowest scores across the board were in compensation and execution. The highest scores were in Google’s mission and values.

I’ll just go by the Headline.
I am also highly against employer executions.
They brought back executions at Google? Post covid I guess. Gates’ and M$soft’s are usually
more sacrifices to Baal and Bahomet. Amazon just makes you work in one of their regional warehouses, abandon all hope, yee who enter the house of Bezos. MwaaHaa’aaa!
Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch.

They don’t like being executed?
I find it surprising because the Googleplex is supposed to be this great wonderland of a place to work with free food and other perks and yet employees are up in arms at the thought of going back to the office.
Nope, they will get rid of the rest of their non h1b workers and mostly have remote teams.
Trust me I know exactly how this works.
Funny story I knew this h1b dev who was fired cause he hired an offshore team to do his work for him.
Someone who was made to look bad eventually wondered how he could be in so many meetings and still get so much work done
Values? Google has Values?
It sucks when your career is at a dead end.
Top Kek.
Good luck getting paid more than Goolag is offering.
Yes, and as always, they will continue until morale improves.
“The ability to execute”..Perhaps that phrase doesn’t mean what they think it means.
Poor babies.
I worked in the Googleplex from around 2004 to 2007 and then near by it in other Mountain View buildings Google had taken over till about 2008. The pay was never that high but yeah they used to have wonderful perks. Free breakfast, lunch, and dinner and snacks and first rate food. Could get smoothies from smoothie bar anytime we wanted. Had massage chairs, and they had real table massages available that were subsidized where Google paid 50 of the 75 bucks we paid only 25 bucks plus the tip. There was a sand volleyball court in the courtyard and I learned to play (actually played once with Sergy Brin on other team who gave me some tips on playing).
Over my time there the place go more political in both the going woke way, and also just the internal politics way of people fighting for control of projects. But for the most part it was a very nice place to work and very tech/engineer focused. Kind of a country club...but with more people coming in and the company growing it just went down hill. They started cutting back on some of the food amenities in my last year there. And it was getting just a bit too woke politically (although I don't think we used the word "woke" then). Kind of sad to see an engineering wonderland go downhill like that...
They execute people there??
Pay and promotions are difficult in these economic times so increase the executions.
Trying very hard to be sympathetic, but I just don’t feel it.
“The highest scores were in Google’s mission and values.”
God help us.
Why don’t people say leftist instead of woke?
