There is only one Donald Trump but Australian mining magnate Clive Palmer is the closest Australia has.
He has put up 80 million Australian dollars for a massive advertising campaign to attack lockdowns mandates and the surge in government debt.
His political party is running candidates right across Australia.
They are pro business libertarian people who were previously not politicians and who are committed to restoring individual rights.
Such as events manager Adam La Rosa. He is running against Labor Party trade unionist Ged Kearney.
His chances?
I wouldn’t exactly equate Clive with The Don.
Maybe they’ll get back to putting another shrimp on the barby.
The toilet swirls counter-clockwise down under.
Call me underwhelmed. I’m convinced “Drain the swamp” is a fiction.
I think one of the problems with non politicians running g and winning g is that they are a bit naive about just how dirty politics are, and when faced with the corruption, and offers of quick cash and power, might fall prey to it. ( not saying all will, but just that some will, which is why I think some of Donald’s picks might have turned on him, perhaps getting lucrative offers to do so perhaps- justna quess- dont know for sure)
In Australia The Don is the greatest ever batsman in cricket, Donald Bradman.
Palmer is a senate candidate and former member of the House Of Representatives.
He is no POTUS.
But he is the closest Australia has to a Trump equivalent.
It entirely depends on who defines ‘Swamp’.
Some people would prefer the old ‘spoils system’.
Then along came Clive.......
